Sean Smith and Dashon Goldson please.

Bowen says the Eagles called Rosenhaus about Eric Winston

rjs246

Winston would be a no-brainer pickup. Fills a need, is relatively young and would free them up to draft lots of defense.

unless they have big concerns as to whether peters can come back it doesnt make much sense to me

hes a solid guy who is going to turn 30 this season....neither his play or his age jumps out to me as a big plus for this team right now

Winston is a RT. Peters is a LT. And they don't have any depth at either position regardless. I don't think that Peters being in tip top shape (or not) has any bearing on this. I know that signing Winston would be boring but they need tons of help on defense and depth on the OL. Signing a solid RT frees them up to use one less draft pick on OL.

isnt winston the guy who almost cried when talking about how kc fans cheered when cassell got hurt? yea, he'd be a great fit in this town.

That shtein's only acceptable for coaches and people forced to watch Wing Bowl at gunpoint.

winston isnt going to be a back up and hes not better than herremans at tackle

if im moving herremans inside its because i massively upgraded his tackle spot or i drafted a future all pro that is going to make my all 30+ year old OL line younger....i can spend my money on the FA market a lot better than on a lateral move at tackle for a guy thats been cut twice in the last two years

Herremans was a beast at guard, if Winston is as good outside as Herreman's was, I'd take that. Obviously, you'd like to upgrade that spot, but you have to factor in that it would allow them to draft a stud for the defense at number 4.

i totally disagree that herremans was a "beast" at guard...he was a nice player

he a good guard and a good tackle....tackle the more important position

if peters is healthy theres absolutely no reason they cant take a defender at 4 instead of a tackle...honestly even if peters isnt good to go the eagles should be taking the best player on their board at four regardless of position....they should be rebuilding with youth and talent...not signing solid older players especially at a place where you dont really need them

the worst team in the nfl just cut winston to take an OT number 1...thats the kind of rebuilding you do when you suck

the fourth worst is now going to sign him....why exactly?

You don't have to massively upgrade Herrremans. You have to massively upgrade RG which you can do if you sign Winston, who's just as good, or better than Herremans is at RT. That's where Herremans versatility comes into play. The O-line is very solid at that point and allows them to go young and rebuilding on defense, which is MUCH more in need of young talent.

right...so why wouldnt the team that is closer to winning keep their starting tackle?....especially when they just traded for a QB

while the team who is swiss cheese has no future at QB and is years away from competing build from the ground up?

instead of signing another zesty teams sloppy seconds

its not difficult to massively upgrade from danny watkins....you can easily do so without signing winston...i love philly kid justin pugh in the 3rd round if hes there for example...

im not against winston as a player as much as i am the idea of signing someone like him...i just dont see the plan in it...hes not that good and he turns 30 this season....if they were a sb contender and needed a solid quick fix at OG then fine sign winston...but they arent even going to have a QB for at least a year and when they have one hes going to be young and need to develop....so how does eric winston fit in this big picture build for the future plan of theirs?

if im the eagles and i want to make a splash at guard then at four o clock on tuesday throw crapload of money at andy levitre...that would be a top end long range solution

The idea of a stopgap player is just mind boggling.

Is there even such a thing as a stop-gap player on a 4-12 team?
