i like alex smith. hes not going to light the world on fire but hes not a turnover machine like other qbs. plus, hes got more mobility than youd think. problem is since hes the best qb on the market the price tag will be too high...eagles need draft picks badly. not an average qb.

if the eagles were solid at every other position and just needed someone semi-competent at qb, i'd be okay with rivers as a 1 or 2 year band-aid. but then they could just get smith too and he has more of a future left in him.

there's really no qb of the future available this offseason. focus on building young core guys at other positions. unless they get to the point where qb is all that's holding them back, or somehow an elite qb becomes available which happens like once every 5 years, i'd rather they just keep rolling the dice on various young guys at the spot
