I always hear the 'shove it down our throats' line all the time. Nothing could be more bullshtein.

Please read this:

http://www.examiner.com/article/florida-gop-seeks-to-allow-public-education-funds-to-pay-for-religious-schools

This is the sort of blatant shtein I'm talking about.   I don't want my tax dollars diverted from public schools and given to religious institutions.   Period.

Do you get it now, dude?

Thats it? So move to Florida and vote against it. HA! It doesn't even affect you IF it gets passed.

Weak.

besides the fact rome lives in florida and has a kid in school you are all over this this shtein

but even more funny than that is not caring about anything or anyone unless its yourself....classic selfish right winger

It's small beans. Let the people in Florida govern themselves. By the people, for the people. If it's what they want, who am I to say otherwise.

so you are cool with something that violates the seperation of church and state as long as it doesnt directly effect you?

or are you against the notion of a secular govt in general
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

It does apply to me directly but it applies to Shore as well.

What would happen if public money started being diverted to Islamic madrasas?   Would Christians still be in favor of it?   I doubt it.

The reason the separation of secular and religious institutions is so vital isn't to protect the majority, but rather, the often powerless minority.   That's such a fundamental American truth I can't believe anyone would protest that.

It's staggering, really.

MDS

shore doesnt want a mosque built within 10 blocks of the world trade center site because fox news told him so

you think public funds get shifted into the pockets of ragheads is gonna sit well? UMM NO. of course that same money going to jesus freaks is different because jesus is obviously the right way to go.

again, its pure selfishness and nothing but uneducated uncultured ignorance. the two hallmarks of the republican party.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

You gotta be kidding me. If I ever see that at a gas station, and I have to fill up a lot, I'm calling the driver out for being a blatant racist.

phattymatty

jesus i've never turned into a RNC before but this is like a carnival of idiotic rednecks.

Rome

I turn into rednecks every chance I get.  With my Prius.  Sure, I don't actually hurt anyone when I hit them, but that tinny little horn scares the farg out of them for a second or two.   Then I flash 'em the peace sign and say, "see you at the farmer's market on Saturday!"

Maybe you should try to stay off the internet long enough to do whatever it is you get paid for.

Bwahahahahaha.

Yeah, seriously. I'm actually posting a lot less now that I'm unemployed. This might be my 3rd or 4th post since Friday.

Lol at the thought that I'm getting eviscerated.  Munson's busy quoting wrong ammendments, talking out his ass, while SD is talking about this drastic increase in poverty rate, when it was pretty steady under Bush in the 12-13 percent range.  The poverty rate is at a record high under Obama right now, in 2012, but blame Bush and stuff...

You guys flock around Todd Akin news, even obviously fake stories, because you know you are throwing your support behind a dud.  I don't need to spell out why the economy sucks, if you can't figure out why it sucks, than I don't know what to tell you.  Can't wait for Chris Christie's speech tonight because I'm sure IGY, MDS, Munson and company will all be in a tizzy.

Munson

Again, the 1st Amendment deals with the separation of church and state, which anyone who can read can tell that's what I was getting at by saying you can't govern by your religion. i was not talking about roe v. wade.

But goddamn you're a moron. You still haven't told us what Obama has done to stifle job growth, or what Romney will do to improve it, or etc.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Roe V Wade dealt with the 14th Amendment, unless you know more than Supreme Court Justices, I'm pretty sure you should give up that argument.

Do I really need to list the economic failures of Obama?

The second bailout, clash for clunkers, his green job initiatives and Obamacare.  Implementing a giant tax in the middle of a recession is probably the worst possible thing you can do the economy.  The chief economist of the WSJ suggests that 85 percent of Obamacare will fall on the backs of the middle class, not the richest 1 percent.

More regulations and more agencies restricting growth.

If McCain was elected in 2008, and the unemployment had remained above 8 percent with the rising national debt, you would be bitching and posting about these economic numbers and how it's time for a change.

Get your head out of the sand.

I know what amendment was cited in Roe v. Wade, I was not specifically talking about Roe V wade. I'll say the sentence again-Governing and making laws based on any religion/religious belief is a direct violation of the 1st Amendment. A lot of Republicans today claim they are Pro-Life on religious grounds.

And no, I didn't ask you to list anything. That's all you've done so far is list things, very broad things, and claimed they were bad. What you haven't done is explained how any of these things have done the things you're claiming they've done. "More regulations and more agencies restricting growth" is a perfect, laughable example of this. As is "green jobs initiatives"...how does a "green jobs initiative" prevent job growth? It's the governemnt doing what it has always done...invest in new technologies that the private sector is developing at incredibly slow speeds because the profit motive is not yet fully realized.
Obamacare isn't a "giant tax" either....0.9% on income above 250K (not the middle class), and a 3% or so Medicare Tax on investment income (Most investment income is not being made in the middle class). I'd say it's about time investment income was taxed for Medicare, like the rest of us working stiffs have to pay.

McCain would ahve done many similar things to what Obama has done in terms of the economy, mostly because Obama hasn't passed much economics wise. THe only real big thing was stimulus, which every president since RR has done.

I'd also be willing to say we'd have got something very similar to ObamaCare had McCain won, considering that's the idea he was pushing during the election.

The only difference may have been that he would have given out the subsidies for people to buy their own without actually taxing to pay for it, creating an even bigger budget problem.
