And if you're in a position of power and you open your mouth to advocate the denial of rights to a certain group, you've crossed a line away from personal freedom of preference and you have to expect that people will respond.

From a PR standpoint it was a moronic thing to say. When you hold a high position it's better to keep your mouth closed. Most people who aren't close minded assumed they were for traditional marriage since they don't open on Sundays for religious reasons. Let the masses believe what they do and go about running your business.

And it's definitely hurt their business...albeit I'm sure temporarily. The one I usually go to near the Neshaminy Mall is usually packed on Saturdays, especially rainy ones like yesterday since they have a play area inside. Yesterday their parking lot was dead and there was nobody in the drive through. The Starbucks/Bertuccis/Chipotle/Cracker Barrell/Red Robin/ lots were packed.

This is incorrect.  Most people are bigots.  They're ridiculously unintelligent, frightened little rodents who are raised to hate people who aren't like themselves.

It's the fault of the stillupfront in the White House Dad lost his job!  Those Romes are spreading AIDS and they're killing decent Christian folk!  The Jews are greedy bastiches who rule Hollywood!  The liberal media is at fault for preaching socialism!

I hear it every day from supposedly rational human beings and it sickens me.   I'm not so much of a hypocrite to suggest I don't have prejudices of my own.  I do.  The difference between me, people like me, and rank and file ignorant ass Americans is I try to overcome my own prejudices.  A small step in that process is to avoid places like Chick Fil-A because of shtein like this.  It's a small thing and it's a personal choice and it's ultimately futile, but at least I'm doing something positive in my own small way to affect change.

theres something to be said for decorum as well...if you have opinions that are neanderthal in nature how about just keeping them at your dinner table....do you really need to espouse them to the whole world...i think we probably could have all done the math and figured out that the cathys were anti gay marriage but you could get past it when you didnt 100% know...i  mean after all there are lots of people who believe in god and support gay marriage...but when you come out and scream your ingorance to the world it pretty much seals your fate in my eyes

You answered your own question.  You can't expect people who have irrational thoughts or opinions to think rationally when it comes to expressing them.

It's annoying when conservatives jerk off to Switzerland and how everyone has guns and there's low crime rates without acknowledging things like their very strict ammunition laws and the fact that they have no standing army and thus put nearly all of their citizens through weapons and army training a few weeks a year.

And of course completely ignore the fact taht they're a much smaller, homogeneous population (something they love to point out when other social democracies successes with socialism are brought up)

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Jesus farging Christ Munson.  Of all the stupid shtein you've ever posted here, this is by far the most outrageous and completely moronic thing you've said.

Sike!  It's actually a well written post and I agree with it.  Just another shining example of the far right not letting little things like facts get in their way.
