Saul is the greatest character, but I'm biased towards anyone who was on Mr Show.

The man. The myth. The legend.

i cant recall the name of it but to me its on a level with something like that cop show with michael chikilis

The Shield. It was a decent show for the first couple seasons

ice grillin you

i only saw most of season 1....or maybe all of it i cant recall...it was decent....i bring it up tho because it reminds me a lot of bb in style and substance
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

MDS

It's actually quite different

Bb is a cinematically shot story of a dude selling meth in albuquerque
Shield is shot on handheld in inner city la and is about a dirty cop
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

the plots arent the same but i didnt think i had to explain that...they are on the same level as far as how good they are

fun mindless dramas

they are certainly not a mad men or wire type show

The biggest similarity is the plots. "What farged up thing can the protagonist do that's bigger than what he did last and still get away with it?"

The man. The myth. The legend.

ice grillin you

those arent plots....also 90% of all tv dramas have that

Implausible is not the same as farged up, but yes.

The man. The myth. The legend.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

I like Mad Men, but I honestly don't think it's on the same level as Breaking Bad.

ice grillin you

its totally different so i can see liking breaking bad more but in terms of the quality of the shows they arent even on the same planet...and thats on all levels writing directing acting ect....breaking bad could certainly be called more entertaining thats about it

breaking bad is cheesy over the top implausible fun

mad men is a highly intelligent and tempered real life drama

I just started watching Mad Men. On the 5th episode of the first season. I think I was avoiding it because I was tired of hearing people talk about it. But the talk died down and now I can get into it with more of an open mind. It's a little different than I thought it would be, which is good. Interested to see how it can sustain over multiple seasons, though.

one of the best things about mad men is all the real life historical events that take place during the show...theres so many little things you wouldnt think twice about and maybe see as written into the show to help the story along were actually real events that weiner worked into the script

I agree that Mad Men had better writing and is more realistic, but Cranston and Paul run laps around anyone Mad Men has to offer.  The acting is what elevates Breaking Bad.
