this is so true

I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

That would be you saying that it's a stupid and outdated law. Make it easier? It is, much more so than it is in most other countries.

Christ, It makes me sick to think that there are actually people out there who want to change the laws of the land because it's too hard on some illegal cutting their grass.

It takes upwards of 7 years to go through the process...and I don't even think that counts the waiting list

If these people are going to get educated and contribute, or join our depleted armed forces and fight for our country...then yes, they're earning their rights to be here

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Yeah, it's all about the racism. Thats just tired. Worn out. In other words, STFU.

TAX REVENUE! Now that, I can agree with, and have been saying since we've been on this disscussion, but how long do you think immigrants will work for that cheap wage that employers like so much when they have to start paying witholding? When close to a third of their checks go to the government, and they ain't getting nothing back before April 15th 'cause they don't own shtein to write off except babies. Well, a lot of 'em would qualify for earned income credit. I believe thats around three grand. But, plainly, it ain't happening. For one thing the two parties are so far apart and entrenched in thier own bullshtein that they won't be coming together on anything anytime soon.

I doubt many of them would be in the 2nd highest tax bracket. hell you can't even work 40 hours a week at minimum wage and afford a place to live according to some of the studies that just came out. Though I assume they'd prob at least get more than min wage for all the hard labor

Everything under the sun? No.

But if they're in our colleges or joining our armed forces, why shouldn't be be giving them a much easier, shorter way to achieve citizenship? That's a big problem with both our legal and illegal immigrants...they come here for the education, and then take their brainpower back home. That sort of brain drain is not good.

Because it's the faring LAW! You don't bend it, or follow just the ones that fit your agenda, or convenience.
While we're making it easier for the illegal immigrant, why don't we just flip the constitution upside down and rewrite it?

[George Takei]Ohh Myyyy[/George Takei]

I've always kind of toned it back a little when responding to you because for the longest time you seemed like a good guy who gradually started saying some weird shtein.  But this is just.....I don't even know what it is.  There's no way you're serious about this, right?

1.  Laws are changed every single day in this country and they are changed because it's predecesor no longer makes sense.  Hell, there was no single federal law regarding immigration until sometime in the 1950's when the Immigration and Nationality Act was passed.  And by your logic (It's the LAW!), slavery should still be legal, women shouldn't be allowed to work or vote and things like The Patriot Act or TSA should not exist.  Or to go a little less serious, it shouldn't be illegal to text while driving.  After all, it was legal to do that until roughly 5 years ago.  That damn Muslim in DC took away my right to be an inconsiderate and dangerous driver!

2.  You do know that there is absolutely no policy in the Constitution about illegal immigrants, right?  I mean, you have to know this.  In fact, the Constitution itself doesn't really establish any actual laws, it provides the basic framework for the structure of the Union and the Federal Government.  There's no reference at all immigration, legal or otherwise.

The entire reason for wanting immigration reform is so that people who are here illegally can be documented.  The entire process itself is out of control and entirely too complicated, time consuming and costly.  This is the thing that ignorant fargs like you refuse to recognize.  People who support immigration reform aren't promoting illegal entry into the country.  I'm completely against that and I'm totally in favor of people wanting to come here by doing it the right way.  The problem with that is that the system that's currently in place to get them here is broken.  Make the immigration process a little less complicated and a lot more efficient and you'll start seeing a significant reduction in illegal border crossings.  It's no different than a business re-evaluating their internal policies and making changes so that their company runs more efficiently.  It's gotten completely out of control and the only way to fix it is to establish some new policies and give everyone who is already here a mulligan.  Amnesty them and give them an opportunity to apply for resident status.  Since people like you don't think that they are paying taxes or contributing to society, wouldn't it make sense to change the process and get them in the system as soon as possible so that they can stop mooching off of the "real" taxpayers?

Then again, since it's a fact that illegals do pay taxes and social security just like the rest of us, I guess you're content with taking their money but not allowing them to have the same privileges as everyone else.

I saw this story yesterday morning.  Are these the people you want to keep out of this country?  I can see how this guy and others like him are a drain on society.  Let me guess.....he's "one of the few good ones", right?  Christ, get a farging clue, man.

In some cases, there is a backlog up to 23 years.  TWENTY THREE FARGING YEARS!  Nope, nothing wrong with that at all.

I will say though that you couldn't be more wrong about our "depleted military."  If that was the case, we wouldn't be cutting manpower and I'd still have a job.  But you are correct about non-citizens who enlist.  They should be pushed through the process a little quicker than everyone else.

Pretty sure I've told this story here before, but from approx 2000-2002 I served with a guy who was foreign born...Trinidad I believe.  He joined the Marines by going to the local US Embassy when he was 18.  He had been in the Marine Corps for nearly 10 years when he was finally approved for citizenship.  He didn't have any major combat experience because there wasn't much going on in the world for the bulk of his service but I know had served in either Bosnia, Kosovo and Mogadishu...can't remember which.  But I do know that the guy dodged a few bullets wherever the hell he was.  And it still took about 5 more years after that for him to become a citizen.  Anyone who can say that the system isn't broke with a straight face is a farging ignoramus as far as I'm concerned.

the only people who care are MA's who think the country is being overtaken by colored people...

How in the world do "colored people?" factor into a discussion about illegal immigrants? I know there  might be a few African immigrants out there, but you're talking about African American citizens, right?

That was my point.  But I'm sure that Shore is ok with having it around despite the fact that it's enactment was changing laws (illegally).

1. Write your congressman, but until the laws are changed don't bitch when they're enforced.

2. Really? Democrats have been wanting to rewrite the constitution for years. It has nothing to do with immigration law.

3. Name calling? Really? My whole reason for illegals to get documented is so they can pay taxes like the rest of us, pay S.S., stop getting medical care that they aren't entitled too, get paid a regular wage so employers can't cut the throat of competitors, were the farg have you been? I don't care what you think or what you read from a liberal media, they don't.Thing is, all these "good people", most of them don't want to be legal, period. I know, I'm around them all the time. They don't want to have to pay taxes.

As far as you not thinking I'm the person I seemed to be before, whenever, thanks. I don't agree with your political way of thinking so I'm an ignorant farg? That alone says a lot more about you and what kind of person you are than it ever will me.

Actually today's argument is about Obama circumventing Congress.

Also you can't really bitch about the Patriot Act and then be an Obama cheerleader...
