Sources said the deal was for four years and worth $14 million.

Who gives a shtein, let someone else overpay for him. There are plenty of other options at defenseman in free agency.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be fine with bringing him back at what he's making right now, but he's going to get a 5 or 6 year deal for $25-$30 million or maybe even more. He's not worth that by a long shot. He was exposed defensively once Pronger went down, and he freelances too much and doesn't stay within the confines of the system. If I thought there was any chance Pronger would play again I'd be for them overpaying for him, because he's the perfect player to pair with a guy like Pronger or a guy like Chara...guys who are so good defensively that it allows offensive defenseman like Carle to float and take chances offensively, but without either of them he's not disciplined of enough of a player to be effective.

I'm actually in favor of bringing Kubina back at the right price, he's been nothing but steady since he's come here and you can tell by his demeanor on ice he's the type of guy that just wants to win. I know he's 35 and isn't the most fleet footed defenseman but he's solid and the type of player you need to win a Cup. It's no coincidence that Bryz started playing better once the Flyers added Grossmann/Kubina.

With the tighter officiating that usually comes in the playoffs, I tend to agree with you.  Hopefully the Flyers can exact a physical toll on the Crosbys, but somehow I doubt they'll be allowed.

which flyer regulars are physical besides simmonds?

i love grossman and hes filled in incredibly for pronger but the playoffs is where they are really gonna miss prongers physicality...especially in front of the net

i think schenn can get their one day but hes not ready yet

the flyers just dont play a physical type style and i dont know of a single player on the flyers who more physical than even crosby....not including bums like rinaldo who wont play much
