Welker is very good at what he does which is move the chains and make a lot of catches, he doesn't change the dynamic of a defense. You have to game plan for big WRs because they can burn you at any time. Welker's talent is finding a hole in a zone and picking up some yards, defensive coordinators aren't staying up at night trying to figure out how they're going to stop him. They're not rolling coverage his way or leaving a safety over the top because of his big play ability.

couldnt have said it better...hes the best at what he does nd is absolutely great at it but what he does doesnt change games...i almost feel guilty saying anything negative about him because i think hes great but at the same time dummies overrate his impact on games and sometimes it must be refuted
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

I disagree.  The teams that have suceeded against the Patriots are the ones who have pressed the receivers, ala Pittsburg last week and the Jets in the playoffs.   You can't just plug any receiver in the slot and expect him to replicate Welker's numbers.  Last year when Welker went down, people thought that Edelman would just take his place.  Not the case.

You're missing the point, I'm not saying Welker isn't a good slot receiver or good at what he does. He doesn't change the dynamic of what defenses do. Do you know why Avant is open so much on 3rd down? Because teams are worried about Desean/Maclin. Both those players (especially Desean) can turn a 10 yard pattern into a TD or outrun a secondary. Teams HAVE to game plan around that. Teams don't game plan around guys who work the middle of the field and aren't a threat to stretch a defense.

Just a commentary on your annoying Negladephian schtick.  Just like when you posted that game 1 of the divisional series was over in the 5th inning when the Phils 6, 7,and 8 batters were due up.  Just like now when you are posting the Eagles season is over in week 9.  A win tomorrow puts them 2 back in the division and one back in the wild card.  The wild card will come down to 3 teams... two of which are in the NFC south.

its almost a passing version of how teams dont care about rushing yards that much anymore

in the nfl today teams arent scared to give up double digit play drives largely driven by the run...just as theyd rather give up 12 catches for 98 yards to wes welker than 5 catches for 110 and two td's to randy moss

thats the patriots big problem these days...they have no vertical attack....when your tight end or in their case tight endS are your big threat then you have a problem

Yes... it's a matter of teams not caring, rather than the fact that the rules have been adjusted to encourage more passes over the middle.

WE ALL WATCHED THE fargING GAME EASY

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Well, I had errands to attend to, so I appreciate the update. Now I can look forward to seeing it in highlights.

giants were +9.5 today

good logic thinking they cant win as a dog tho

The Giants are better on the road as big dogs than at home as big favorites. You think it's a trend they can maintain?

I watched the whole Ravens/Steelers game, it was the best game of this week. Flacco has played his best vs the Steelers.

Watched the Packers game also. Chargers hung in there for a while, but there is no better qb then Rodgers and no better team than the Packers. Everyone is talking about Rodgers when he rolls out how amazing his accuracy is on the run. He will beat you any way possible. His accuracy is uncanny, I want to say like Montana, but his arm is much stronger and he gets the ball in very tight places that other qb's have no business even trying to get it in.

As for the Giants, we've seen them win big games like this before, although I don't know how big a win it really is as bad as the Pat's D is. I don't want to rush to judgment about them anymore than I want to about the Eagles as good as they looked last Sunday. It will be interesting to see it play out.
