Good point Sarge.  That first defensive stand was huge.  Back to back sacks on Romo and 0 points after gifting them great field position just set the tone.  Awesome night of football.

Last night was fun, but I am pretty sure they get run off the field next week by a good Chicago team coming off the bye. Forte is going to eat them alive.

Man, what a game. Dallas was never even in it, it was all Eagles right from the kickoff. It was too the point in the 4th that I didn't want the blowboys to score just so the egg stayed on the board.

They should be able to stack the box, Chicago doesn't exactly have wrs that scare you.

I agree that they should be able to stack the box. But I still don't trust the line to stop the run or the linebackers to hit puberty prior to that game.

Is there anything more Shady could do for this team?? He's Bwest without the injuries. He carved the Dallas D up with the quickness. I also like the fact that it looks like they are working Celek back into the offense, he was gone for a while.

Chaney had a half decent game, I thought, which probably means he had the best game of any Eagles linebacker in the last five years.

I think the LBs did ok in coverage, but Romo wasn't exactly laser-sighted in his short-range passes. Murray also basically averaged 10 yards a carry. If the Cowboys don't fall behind so quickly last night, I'm pretty sure we would have seen Murray run all over god's green earth.

This defense is designed to play with a lead and attack / disrupt the QB (and even that they failed at twice this year). Stopping the run, which is all the Bears do, is a total mystery to them.

FWIW Vegas has the Eagles as an 8-pt favorite

When Shady attacks the hole like he did last night, he's unbelievable.  Sometimes he hesitates and dances a little too much behind the line and the hole closes before he gets through it.  Last night he attacked and took whatever the defense gave him.  If it was only a couple of yards, he still took it.  And when the line sealed everything off perfectly, he exploded through the hole for big gains.  The only times he danced around in the backfield was when Dallas got some penetration and Shady had to improv to get out of it...which he usually did.

He's def a better overall runner than Westbrook was, which is saying something because Westy was pretty damn good in his own right.  But Shady is off the charts good.

yeah there's something about vick and night games. i think they beat the bears easily.

rjs246

I hope you're right. That shtein was fun to watch and it's obvious that they can win and win easily when they play to their potential, I just really don't like this Bears matchup.

Cutler is Tony Romo with a stronger arm and worse receivers.  He's still a turnover machine and the Bears o-line is not good with pass protection.

I'm more concerned with the Bears defense because they have (gasp) linebackurz who can do everything.  Good thing Celek got his yards and a score last night because he ain't gonna get many looks next week.

You're already having nightmares about Jay Cutler swallowing up the entire defense in his neck, aren't you.

I think Westbrook was a bit faster/quicker....but Shady just has much sharper cuts, much more agile (which, as you said, is saying something because Westbrook had ridiculous agility and cutting ability). Westbrook did the short cut and burst thing, while Shady just flat out Barry Sanders people and goes completely lateral to get around guys.

I think at this point you have to say Shady is at least as good as Westbrook was, and probably can be labeled as better before years end if he can stay healthy.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds
