roy halladay is a better baserunner than shane victorino.

fact.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

:-D I swear Victorino gets dumber with age, not by year, by game.

Nice to see these nitwits finally busting out the whooping sticks.

Give props to Valdez for his play early on. That was a thing of beauty, as well as the scoop by Choke. Beautiful.

And the diving stab by Grit was awesome too.

Frustrating offense early. Vic is dumb. Thankfully they were able to bust out a bit later on. Hopefully that helps them catch fire a bit.

3 games up

world champion marlins swept at home by milwaukee in front of 15 people. just an abberation, though. theyll run off a 20 game win streak soon enough because no one beats the almighty marlins.

also best record in the nl but thats just luck until cy jurrjens start pitching every day.

and tied for the best record in baseball but again its all because of the easy ass schedule theyve played. no boston yet. all luck.

they just dont seem like a world series team to me.

Not sure I'd call it the whooping stick, as the first three runs were scored without benefit of a hit:

Top 4th
Quote- R. Halladay walked
- S. Victorino walked, R. Halladay to second
- P. Polanco walked, R. Halladay to third, S. Victorino to second
- C. Resop relieved J. McDonald
- C. Utley grounded into fielder's choice, R. Halladay out at home, S. Victorino to third, P. Polanco to second
- R. Howard hit sacrifice fly to deep left center, S. Victorino scored, P. Polanco to third, C. Utley to second
(Granted, Brown did single off the ump right after this, but the Phils did not get a hit to score this run.)

Top 5th
Quote- R. Halladay walked
- S. Victorino walked, R. Halladay to second
- P. Polanco walked, R. Halladay to third, S. Victorino to second
- C. Resop relieved J. McDonald
- C. Utley grounded into fielder's choice, R. Halladay out at home, S. Victorino to third, P. Polanco to second
- R. Howard hit sacrifice fly to deep left center, S. Victorino scored, P. Polanco to third, C. Utley to second
- R. Ibanez intentionally walked
- C. Ruiz hit by pitch, P. Polanco scored, C. Utley to third, R. Ibanez to second
- D. Brown grounded out to first

Speaking of Brown...

Yo Todd - whatchoo and your boy Rube got to say?

MDS

he was brought up too soon but it was like 3 games too soon

in fact at this juncture he is wasted hitting 7th. he should be hitting 6th behind polanco. it does no good to burry him behind and in front of 3 people who play station to station.

I was thinking the same thing - I'd like to see Brown higher in the lineup.

Brown still has a long swing, and will probably be prone to slumps because of it.  He does seem to have made the adjustment to MLB pitching, though, and gives the Phils some speed if he can get on consistently.

PhillyPhreak54

I toyed around with lineups - but what do you do about the LH heaviness? Hit Vic 5th and Polanco 2nd?

And even then you're still faced with Ibanez and Brown being back to back unless you put Brown 8th and Ruiz 7th

Rome

They're usually hitting against right handed pitching and they still can't hit the ball worth a shtein.

The lineup is a mess and unless they shake it up and get some new blood in there, it's gonna be like that all year.

MDS

it was always going to be like this

why are you bringing this up now

are you just figuring out why they signed lee?

if youre not ready for 3-2 games and weeklong droughts then get out now.

Munson

Tim Hudson has lost 3 straight games Please ban me, I have nothing to contribute. real aces on the best staff in the division shouldn't lose games!

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Here's the last 6+ years in Pittsburgh.  Not pretty.

2011 1-2
2010 1-3
2009 1-2
2008 2-1
2007 1-2
2006 1-2
2005 2-2
----------------

Total 9-14

Another lost series in Pitt.  That's 3 years in a row now that they've lost a series there.  Makes no sense.
