Okay. Wrapped up season one and started season two. It's a good show and I'm going to keep watching it. To this point, I haven't seen the transcendence that warrants 100 pages about it on a football message board...but it's certainly entertaining.

This is a football mb?  As in, American Football?

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Diomedes

down means downtown

the liquor store is south of my cribbo but i dont say im going down the liquor store...i say im gonna go up to it

down is like florida and up is like maine...but when we are talking about a couple mile trips those directives lose all meaning

wrong.

north is up.  south is down.  if you want to conflate the two, don't bother using them at all.  instead of saying 'I'm going up to the package store' which is in fact south/down from you, why not just say, I'm going to the package store

the answer in your case is, because you are teevee dumb

Wouldn't this all be relative to the direction you are facing at the beginning of your journey?  If you are facing south at the starting point, then heading south would actually be going up, right?

What if you are in South America?  It's all backwards there, isn't it?  Or if you are on the South Pole, any direction you walk in is technically on a downward slope, no?

Let's spend at least 10 pages talking about this.

Diomedes

North is up.  South is down.  Nothing relative about it.

if I'm going East or West, would I use up or down?

If it's directly east or west, you're going "over to"

If it's north-east/west or south-east/west, you use "down" or "up" accordingly.

Also this entire conversation reminds me of City Slickers 2

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds
