Good to hear that they got all of the cancer.

Good that they got all the cancer.  Kind of curious though....I wonder why Akers would pass up a contract paying him top 5 money.  Was there something in the contract he didn't like (maybe length or incentives) or did he want to wait until a new CBA is reached thinking that he may be able to get more under the new deal?

In December, the Eagles and Akers had talked about a contract extension. The team offered a deal that would have made him one of the top five kickers in the league, but Akers passed, according to league sources.

im not saying its not true but league sources in this case = banner inc.

and what is a top 5 deal....because akers falls under the 30% rule which means the eagles couldnt increase his salary more than that for next year and because of that theres no way he could make a top five salary...i suspect the eagles offered him some long ass deal that "paid" him among the top five but also a deal in which he wouldnt see most of the money
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

They didn't.  Vick is still on the team.

Ba-bum.

Sgt PSN

Eh....regardless of your opinions about what he did, I think if there's one thing you can absolutely say about Vick now is that he is an overwhelmingly positive presence in the locker room and on the field.  He may have been a bit of a cancer in ATL because of his lack of effort in game prep and whatnot, but that's definitely not the case today.  As it stands right now, the only negative surrounding Vick is the bad pub he gets from certain corners of the media, fans and animal rights groups.  But that's to be expected and will never go away as long as he remains in the public eye.

Agreed. I didnt' think there was anyone out there that actually thought Vick was a cancer in the locker room or for the organization at all. His teammates love him, the coaches love him and even Jeff Lurie loves him now. Not what he DID, but how he's conducted himself since coming to the team.

Sorry but Vick is still a worthless human being.

Great athlete and I hope he wins the Super Bowl but he's still a piece of garbage.

May you never farg up so badly in your life that you need forgiveness.

Yes, but he's paid his debt to society. I mean, six years in Atlanta? Favre spent one year there and he's been getting away with shtein for twenty years.

The man. The myth. The legend.

He received his forgiveness from the one person he needed it from most.....Roger Goodell.   He was allowed back into the league and once the lockout ends, stands to make a boatload of money.  I don't think anyone, football fans or otherwise, has to forgive him for anything if they choose not to.  It's one thing to acknowlege that he paid his debt in prison and deserves an opportunity to play football again, but it's completely different to forgive.  I still think he's despicable for what he did and I hope that he is truly making changes for the better, but that doesn't mean that I'm going to forgive him for what he did or assume that he's a completely changed person.

I doubt seriously he gives a shtein whether you, me, or anyone else forgives him, nor should he.  He's a professional athlete and he gets paid to entertain us, not to be a beacon of virtue.

Someone who has his wires so crossed that he gets off torturing and killing animals for sport, profit and eventually the fun of it is beyond redemption.

Doesn't mean I won't wear his jersey or scream my lungs out for him when he's wearing the uniform, though.  I've already said countless times I'm a hypocrite and proud of it.

99% of the talking down towards Vick has been because of what he did to the dogs, but really, the bigger thing for the Feds and what most people seem to forget is that he was running an illegal gambling ring that had tens of thousands of dollars changing hands. The Mafia does the same thing and people look down on Vick more so because of killing animals. Shows me how somewhat backwards and material this country is.
