No, there's big and then there's Teahupoo.  It's the heaviest wave on the planet, Dio.  The world has big farging waves but that shtein is absolutely titanic.  The fact that he backhanded his way into that monster is the truly astounding part.

@ Don... Riding Giants is excellent.  The wave that Laird Hamilton rode at Teahupoo might be the most incredible thing I've ever seen.  The difficulty involved in riding that is just unimaginable.

Sick shtein

I didn't understand anything those dudes said and I really wanted to punch the effusive dude in the face.  It's a big wave and all, but whatever.  Every surfing video is big waves.

yep exactly....an 80 foot wave is bigger than a 30 foot wave but waves of like sized are all the same...that wave that hamilton surfed in teahopoo is being surfed all over the world all the time

the one spot that impresses me is the area off mexico that is like a six hour boat ride from shore in rough seas (don or romey or one of these surfing guys probably know the name)...so if you get hurt bad out there you are basically dead...again surf doods will correct me but theres like a reef or something way out in the middle of the ocean where sick ass waves break and they break like two or three feet above the reef which makes it ultra dangerous

anyway this farging mountain is my favorite and definitely as good if not a little better than hamiltons teahapoo wave

I am very impressed igy!  You're thinking of Cortes Banks off San Diego.  It's about 100 miles out.  These underwater mountains pop up all of a sudden where it goes from being half a mile deep to just 3-6 feet deep.  Some incredible huge, nasty surf out in the middle of the ocean.  That has got to be the most intense surf spot on the planet.  There is a piece on this spot in the surf documentary "Step Into Liquid".  Place is nuts.

Cortes isn't even on my radar.  I've surfed a lot of different places but I don't have the ability to even consider surfing a reef break like that.  Sunset was my limit and that was when I was in my 20's.  I'd say a 4-6 foot beach break in Jersey is about my limit these days.

:-D

smeags

that can be more dangerous then a reef break depending on what new york dumped the week before.

I really enjoyed Exit Through the Gift Shop. Those crazy kids sure do like their vandalism.

its amazing that that movie has held up

credit has to go to hockey and canada in general for not changing its culture significantly since 1975.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Don Ho

And let us pray some dip shtein like Adam Sandler doesn't try to do a remake.
