Last year, when Vikings quarterback Brett Favre began to offer up a laundry list of built-in excuses for failure, in the form of a Cavity Sam-style collection of injuries, we began to add a trio of maladies for effect — lupus, swine flu, and polio.

He now has one of those three afflictions, sort of.

Per Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, Favre thought he was coming down with the flu on Wednesday.  Favre now thinks he has a sinus infection.

Either way, Favre will be "far less than 100 percent" against the taterskins, according to Zulgad.

Is there anyone who can process such information without thinking that Favre is merely hoping to deflect criticism if he throws three more interceptions?  I mean, it's a freaking sinus infection.  I know an untreated sinus injection can be serious, but unless he's got a high fever and/or he's throwing up and/or he's suffering from other symptoms that would tend to clash with a pair of white game pants, it's a sinus infection.

Take a pill and shut your mouth and own it if (when) you continue to produce more turnovers than a baker on meth.

Better yet, just go away.
