Listening to Sirius this afternoon...

Ryan and PK had Kevin Harlan on; he is calling the game for Westwood One tonight. He said that he was told by an Eagles insider and beat writer that Vick is the Eagles QB of the future without a doubt.

Good.  He's better.  Although I have a sinking feeling Kolb will win some Super Bowls elsewhere.

ice grillin you

he may or may not be the future but its completely laughable to believe for a second that anyone in banner inc told a random basketball play by play announcer what their plans are
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

If the Skins locked up McNabb after a lackluster start to the season, then the Eagles need to lock up Vick pronto.

I think Kolb will pretty good too.  I was all for Kolb starting on opening day but Vick is just otherworldly right now. You have a chance to have Vick, Pimp, Maclin and Shady together for about 4 good years....you don't pass on that.

I dont want the Eagles ever to follow Daniel Snyder and the Skins protocol...but I agree completely they need to scoop up Vick with the quickness.

His arm, quickness, accuracy is sick right now, and every scrub team in need of a qb with throw the bank at him.

Exactly. This is why they need to show him some love on the train ride home tonight.

and maybe even a get a commitment to sign a contract.

first QB with 3 passing and 2 rushing TDs in one half

first QB to ever have 300+ passing, 50+ rushing, 4 passing TDs and 2 rushing TDs in one game

QuoteMichael Vick suggested Thursday that re-signing with the Eagles will be his top priority for 2011.
"When nobody else wanted me they did," said Vick, "and I'll defintely have to take that into consideration when it's time to make a decision." Vick has proven to be not only better than Kevin Kolb but also one of the best quarterbacks in the league this season. It's easy to envision him re-upping with the Eagles. Pending the new CBA, the Eagles will also have the option of using the franchise tag.

The BIGSTUD

Gotta give him all the credit in the world for doing what he is doing. He really put all the effort into becoming the player that his talents allow him to be. It makes me wonder what Iverson could have become if he ever worked on his jumper.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

No internet access in the ditches yet, so I'm late to the party.  Some thoughts, because you care:

Quote from: rjs246 on August 14, 2009, 07:51:49 AMThe dude was convicted of a crime, went to prison, lost all of his sources of income and is now flat broke. On top of that he has absolutely no marketable skills outside of football and organized dog fighting. The criminal justice system is in place for a reason. That reason was satisfied here. The dude should now be allowed to work at the only legitimate career he's capable of having.

You really think that simply because he was subjected to punishment according to the law, he should be afforded every opportunity to resume the dream lifestyle of being a pampered wealthy jockstar?  Because he's too stupid and unskilled to get work elsewhere, he should be welcomed back into the fold over and above other athletes who somehow manage not to operate gambling rackets or go on dog killing sprees?
It would be unfair to send him back to prison again, he's done his time.  That does not however make him clean again.  Having sat for 18 months according to the rules doesn't undo the fact that he ran an illegal gambling operation based on killing animals, killed animals himself, lied about all of it, etc.   You don't get to just wipe that out because you were subjected to punishment.  You don't get to just return to your million dollar lifestyle after something like that.  Where else in the world do you get to just walk back in after something like that?  Teachers don't get to step back into their schools after a drunk driving DUI.  Cops don't get their pensions back after getting caught laundering money from a stolen car racket.  Etc.

Quote from: ice grillin you on August 14, 2009, 08:00:53 AMit has very little to do with dogs....theres a huge racial element here...michael vick to the black community is the huey newton of black quarterbacks and they will go to the grave with him and to the white community hes way to black and represents all the savages in the ghettos of our cities who are ruining the country

if this involved a safe black guy like mcnabb or donte stallworth or a light skinned brother like hank baskett or robert smith the outrage would be far less

the split on wip is crystal clear and basically universal

all the brothers are like man paid his dues deserves a second chance and all the white callers are beside themselves

I'm bored sick of your small minded race theories.  No doubt race plays some role on a macro scale, as can be said about everything in America, but this kind of tripe is over-simplification at it's worst, and textbook vigy bullshtein.  Charcoal black or lily white, this is about a guy who acted like a scumbag first and foremost.  He was a jerk on the field, and as we all know, he was human scum off the field.  McNabb is "safe" because--as far as we know--he's a decent citizen.

Had Vick not been such an arrogant farg at first, the revelation of and reaction to his sick criminal exploits would not have been as severe.  But he is an icehole, so there you go.  Had his crimes not taken place over the course of a long stretch of time, but instead as a momentary break in otherwise good behavior (a la Stallworth), the reaction would not have been as severe.  But they were a drawn out premeditated pattern of action.

This isn't whity hating on the street stillupfront's mom, it's decent people revolted by an anti-social miscreant.

Also, oh holier-and-blacker-than-thou white boy: stop the ludicrous conceit that you somehow know what "all the brothers" think or how "the black community" views anything.  That's some goddamn incorrect thinking.  All the brothers have different opinions, just like any other group of people.  How you can claim that kind of shtein without calling yourself out as a racist is incredible.

ha, well said

Quote from: ice grillin you on August 14, 2009, 11:21:40 AMyeah thats the problem...your corny overanalyzation of this makes you sound like a mesh cutoff shirt wearing man purse toting pixie

Quote from: King Cole on August 14, 2009, 03:38:50 PMand they have the audacity to act like they are pure individuals? They want to prevent a man who's paid severely for his actions from ever gaining any semblance of a life back.

He can have a life back.  If he announced that he's going to start an internship at SPCA and pursue a career down that line, he can have that and my support.  If he wants to go back to school, he can have that and I wish him the best.  He can go work at farging McDonalds, I'd still say please when I place my order.  What he can't and shouldn't do is strut back into his rock star NFL lifestyle wearing a mask of contrition under the tutelage of fraudulent mentors and worst of all, wearing a goddamn Philadelphia Eagles jersey.

Though I think at this point we can all get over the whole "walking back into the NFL lifestyle" thing.
