perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Diomedes

yeah, they're going

I'll be working on the house or one of the cars, not sure yet

well, maybe they aren't going...they left Baltimore at 9:30 a.m. and can't get into D.C....crazy traffic, outlying Metro Stations have lines out into the parking lot for getting onto D.C. bound trains (and of course, no parking)...they're gonna try one more time at a different stop, but it looks like they'll probably just turn around...too much of a pain in the ass with a 13 month old in tow

Rome

permits for 60k and it's looking like 250k are going (minimum).

crazy liberals.

Diomedes

so glad I didn't cave when she tried to get me to go with, what a mess

Clearly infotainment is more compelling to this population than just about everything else.

Just got back into Newark about a half an hour ago. We stayed at my friends frat house in College Park, and woke up at 10 thinking that it'd just be a quick train ride over....but the station was packed. Waited a half an hour for a ticket, the train was so packed and blah blah blah didn't get into DC til about 12:15ish. Never really got to a good spot where we could hear everything being said, but we caught afew parts of it. The whole Ozzy coming out was pretty good. Eventually after not being able to hear much, we decided to just leave around 2:20 and go be tourists. But I do know they were supposed to be from 3rd street to 7th street on the mall and the crowd extended to about 10th street....and I'm pretty sure it went further down than 3rd street. It was insane. I haven't been in a mob of people that large pretty much ever, sans the celebration after the 08 world series.

I tried to snap as many pictures of signs and the crowd as I could, but in the end didn't really get too much good. I'll post em anyway after the weekend.

this fake rally yesterday turned into one of the most fun days that i've ever seen in DC. the city wasn't ready for how big it was, i'd guess close to 300 thousand or so, but everyone had an amazing sense of humor.  so much fun.

Munson

Did you catch any of the zombie signs, Phatty? I got a picture of one but there were a bunch of good ones. Some guy just had "want brains" splattered with blood all over the poster board :-D

The man. The myth. The legend.

I give Stewart credit for not making it easy on the Prez earlier this week.  Kind of sad that he's become a better newsman than pretty much any of the "real" news people.

Some signs and pics of the crowd I snapped. GF I don't think these are too big but if so let me know and I'll try to resize them. They're the standard facebook size though.

The PacMan ghosts made a visit to the Rally

Love the serious sign right next to the Obama cowbell sign

I hope some uber christian nutjob was there to see that one

Mattt...Daymun...

Funny how this sign doesn't have the worst one, the taterskins, on there.

"God Hates Nags"

lol

I know it's a lot of pictures but I figured some of those signs needed to be posted. On a touristy note, this was the first time I had been to DC since I was about 15, so this was the first time I've seen the World War II memorial. I know it caught some criticism at first, but I thought it was absolutely beautiful. Gave me chills. I might post some of the touristy pics in the photography thread.

it really was a hilarious day...kind of renewed my faith in people that so many had such a sense of humor.

Most likely one phatty offered the guy $20 for:

Nice sweatshirt, too.
