More details are coming in about former NFL linebacker Junior Seau's arrest and subsequent car crash this morning, as Seau is facing felony charges for the domestic violence incident but was not seriously hurt in the crash.

According to 10 News in San Diego, Oceanside police arrested Seau on a charge of felony spousal assault with injury. Seau was arrested around midnight, and the victim is described as his live-in girlfriend.

After he was released from custody, Seau drove his Cadillac Escalade off a cliff in Carlsbad. Sports by Brooks has a photo of Seau's Escalade being towed from the cliff. Seau was pulled out of the vehicle with only cuts and bruises and taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla.

Police have not disclosed whether they believe Seau's crash was accidental or intentional.

i think most of us can relate to those kinds of statements. it's just that they are usually yelled across a parking lot to strangers instead of told to a cop while we swim shirtless in a canal.

There is something seriously wrong with that story.  He either did something that wasn't reported or the cops saw a black dude out late and just said "farg it, here's your DUI, even though you didn't blow .08".  12mph over and .065 gets you arrested?  Give me a farging break.

Agreed, something fishy.  Perhaps that's why the team has decided he'll play Sunday.  Of course, maybe the fact he's their best WR has something to do with that decision as well.

I like how they gave him a piss test too because they apparently suspected him of being high, but at the same time the story said nothing about cops having a reason to suspect drug use....like the car smelling of weed or finding a roach in the ashtray or Matt Jones' credit cards in the back seat.

He was young and black and apparently had 1 1/2 drinks.  Obviously on drugs too!
