He is even worse, but the NFL is taking a different approach now days.  If he was playing now he probably would have been suspended for a year if not longer. 

I don't blame Goodell for handling things this way, for the longest time these guys got away with murder.

i don't feel bad for him either although i wasn't expecting him to get 6 games.  it's a little steep for the (alleged) crime but i think the harsh punishment is more of a pr move than anything else.  if he would have only got 4 games, the race card would have come out.  hell, people already tried playing it when the steelers traded holmes instead of ben.  but the league suspended pac man for an entire year based on allegations so if they didn't hit ben hard on this one, there would be a lot of bitching. 

and what it really comes down to is ben having a history of horrible judgement and decision making.  i won't go so far as to say that he's guilty of anything, but where there's smoke, there's fire.

Pac man was suspended based on multiple arrests (although not found guilty on any of them) and even back then I thought it was absurd to suspend him for a year based on arrests only. Ben has never been arrested. Now, I have no doubt that he's a sorority raping scumbag, but this a dangerous precedent for the players and they don't seem to be fighting it.
