Who is going to give up more than a 5th rounder for a guy that can't pass a drug test? If he fails another he is suspended for a year.  I don't fault the Steelers for this at all. 

the 5th is probably fair market value for him

but to me the the upside of keeping him and him not being suspended again is greater than the upside of a 5th round pick

even if you are sick of the antics, you dont just throw your arms up and give a guy away like that. a 5th rd is basically a release with no compensation in return.

he's a free agent after this season.  anyone know what kind of compensatory pick the steelers would have received had he signed elsewhere next year?

hard to say since no one knows what the rules are going to be next offseason...if there even is a offseason

i was talking about under the current rules, since those are the only ones we have to go by at the moment.

but if you go by those rules i dont think he would be a free agent until 2012...you need six years now

Didn't he also have a domestic violence incident in the last few years?  I still find a 5th rd pick to be a bit perplexing.

I read last week that he probably wasn't going to resign with the Steelers anyway because he wanted to play in a bigger market.  According to NFL radio they were going to release him if they couldn't get something for him. 

On a funny side note I was at a pizza shop for lunch and one of the dudes there was bitching that he just got an authentic Holme's jersey.

I would say that's borderline spectacular. Well, other than the fact that she's a country singer and you'd probably have to listen to that shtein while her head bobbed up and down on your rod. Oh the misery.

there's some pics out there that i didn't post where she appears to have a busted looking beak.  she's hot, but a definitive downgrade from kim's lucious booty.

and as you said, she's a country singer which automatically makes her less appealing.
