Seen on ESPN's McNabb crawl today: the average age of the expected starters on offense for the Eagles is 24yrs old.

That is a good thing.

from an article on PFT

QuoteMeanwhile, another comment from the aftermath of that loss to the Cowboys was right on the money.

"We can't get embarrassed like that again on Saturday night," an unnamed veteran player told ESPN's Sal Paolantonio in advance of the wild-card game against the Cowboys, "or a lot of guys will lose their job."

The Eagles got embarrassed again -- and to date a lot of guys have indeed lost their jobs.

Including McNabb.

ok, so the question i have now is that since a lot of players lost their jobs, at what point are reid and banner going to be held accountable for this team's lack of a championship?  especially now that basically every player from the 04 team is now gone.  who's left?  akers and jackson?  anyone else?

Reid is held accountable in three years if they fail to make the playoffs. As long as he makes the playoffs, Andy has a job for life. Banner, on the other hand, will never be held accountable for anything.

The man. The myth. The legend.

The worst part here is that this is true and its what makes me so sick over all of it.

Reid and Banner are both here as long as they want to be.

you missed the point.  it's not about taking one side over the other.  the organization decided it could not move forward with mcnabb, right?  so they moved him....which is fine.  so now that they've got their "new core" of young talent, what happens if this group doesn't win a championship?  do they slowly get released/traded or will reid and banner finally have to explain why they can't get this team over the hump?

There have been power shifts that show that they are being held accountable. Reid only got 3 years on his extension, and previous contracts have been 5. Roseman has more say than Heckert had, which seems to have reduced Banner's role.

Reid had a lot of success in the 00's with McNabb and McNabb 2.0, he deserves a chance to rebuild the team, within 3 years. If this team isn't strongly competing in 2 seasons, i think you see a change.

How has Banner been held accountable? Any changes in the FO/Coach staff come from a promotion or better offer by another team of sadly in JJ's case death. The staff and FO is pretty much untouchable.

banner will never be held accountable...you have to consider him a part owner

but when i was referring to accountibility i was more talking about the fans as opposed to the organization

however heckert licht and donovan
three 100% andy guys
are all gone
if that isnt telling reid something then i dont know what is

Shared, not only for the relatively non-interesting and expected news of Cole signing his tender, but also for the hilarity of the grammar and proofreading foibles:

QuoteRFA OL Cole Signed To One-Year Contract
Offensive lineman Nick Cole has signed a one-year deal with the Eagles, accepting his restricted free agent tender at the second-round level.

Cole, 25, is one of two offensive linemen, along with Winston Justice, who started all 16 games for the Eagles in 2009. He started six games at left guard and nine games at left guard before taking over as the starting center when Jamaal Jackson was lost for the season with a torn ACL.

With Jackson working to rehab from his injury, Cole could open the 2010 season as the starting center. One of the most versatile linemen on the team, Cole, 6-foot-0, 350 pounds, joined the Eagles as a rookie free agent following the 2006 draft. He's seen action in every game in his four-year career, appearing in 64 regular season contests (22 starts) and six playoff games (four starts). A versatile and tough offensive lineman, the 25-year-old Cole started in every game in 2009 at three different positions (nine at right guard, six at left guard, and two at center).

A three-year starter at New Mexico State, Cole notched a school-record 40 straight starts at both guard and tackle. The Lawton, OK, native attended Eisenhower High School, where he earned all-state honors at left guard as a senior.
After Cole's signing, offensive lineman Max Jean-Gilles and punter Sav Rocca are the only restricted free agents yet to sign their tender offer.
