Brandon Gibson and a fifth for a few games from Witherspoon. I don't think Gibson is ever going to be a superstar, but he looked really solid and showed a lot of promise, even in the hole that is St. Louis. This makes the whole acquisition and cut extremely strange.

Is it possible Witherspoon he gave Reid an "extend me or cut me" ultimatum?  Thats the only possible reason behind this.

they cut witherspoon because he was due five million dollars.  they're in full cost-cutting mode now that there's an uncapped season upon us.

what's amazing is they made a fullback the highest paid player at his position in history despite the fact that they don't run the ball and rarely use the fullback for blocking.
