the part where he tied into the origins and basic story of Christianity to so many other religions that came before it just scared the living crap out of me. people are so brainwashed by this flying spaghetti monster in the sky hullabaloo.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

the crazies - really disapointing...was basically one long chase/escape scene....imo not nearly enough background info given..both about the cause of the crazies and about the characters...like you didnt give one flying farg who died and who lived...and the part they did do seemed rushed..also way to many cheesy scenes like someone is about to be killed and at the last second gets saved...it also tried way to hard to be gory/over the top and pretty much failed across the board

4/10

Needless to say, this review is only making me want to see it more.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

Zombieland - 3.5/5 - I liked it, I got a few chuckles but when it was over I was hoping for more out of it? I don't know, the idea of a larger budget film about zombies just gets me wet thinking about it and it did not finish me off the way I was hoping. Either way it was cool for what it was I guess. I like the added dimension of type work with the rules, that was somewhat original.

I really hope World War Z goes to film. I guess what I really want is a well done serious movie about zombies. and emma stone topless next time...

Like that one story from ancient egypt was practically the exact same story as jesus.  Crazy

I'm going to have to watch it again now.
I'm not from Philly but some say I'm blunt.

World War Z's been rumored to be in production for liie 3 years now. It sucks. They keep re-writing the script.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

MMH

It's likely unfilmable.
Read the book.

Munson

Brooks said the last script he read, he loved it. Dunno why it got dropped.

Watched Tokyo Zombie. Not good, at all, but killed two hours successfully and didn't fill me with rage.

more than a game - faboulously done documentary chronicling the other fab 5...which was lebron james and his four best friends who met when they were 8-10 years old at an akron ymca and played together thru high school capping off their careers together with a national championship...just a great story and one id put barely just below hoop dreams...which is an all time doc

8/10

shutter island - what a gigantic waste of time...two hours of nothingness just to get to an ending that you saw coming ten minutes after the movie started...it was well done as any scorcese movie is and well acted but it just didnt need to be made

4/10

i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

big fan- got netflix and this was on instant view. patton oswalt is sensational. it would be just a slightly above average movie but with oswalt and the sports talk stuff specifically being about philly/ny to the next level.

Michael Rapaport was a pretty good Philadelphian, especially considering he's a stinking New Yorker.

sent milk back to netflix today and i'm a bit perplexed about what movie i want to see next.

the ones in my queue i'm most interested in are:

district 9 (which seemed to get mixed reviews here)
running with scissors - read the book 4 or 5 years ago and really enjoyed it.  want to see the movie but never pull the trigger on it because i'm afraid of a monumental let down.
valkyrie - don't recall reading any reviews here.  i think this came out during my extended absence so that's probably why.
frost nixon
burn after reading

you have 5 hours to help me decide how i'm going to spend thursday night.  GO!

by rank of enjoyment

district 9
frost nixon
burn after reading--but very debatable

take the rest out of your queue

Butchers Bill

district 9 - sucked
running with scissors - you will be let down, but not to the point of it not being viewable.
valkyrie - pretty good.  Cruise horribly mis-cast but the rest of the acting is top-notch.
frost nixon- very good...best movie on the list.
burn after reading awful...just awful.
I believe I've passed the age of consciousness and righteous rage
I found that just surviving was a noble fight.
I once believed in causes too,
I had my pointless point of view,
And life went on no matter who was wrong or right.

Munson

Burn After Reading is worth watching just for Brad Pitts character. But I'd go for a movie that's watchable for the movie itself, not just a character.
