I agree with Cross at the end of that article--that offensive line is all weight with not enough athleticism. Peters is the biggest mirage on that line, and anyone outside of maybe Nick Cole (which is a joke), doesnt have the effective ability to get out and run block at the second level of the opposing defense.

remember in the off-season when the eagles line was the best in the nfl on paper? ha

General_Failure

At least one Andrews was supposed to be the weight and athleticism they needed. And then ignored for 90% of the plays on offense anyway.

The man. The myth. The legend.

Schefter reporting:

Eagles hired former Browns GM Phil Savage as a consultant for the April NFL draft.

Savage's title with the Eagles will be Player Personnel Consultant.

there's a resounding vote of confidence for Howie the wunderkind

Makes me think Heckert got pissed off and left rather than being pushed out

I always liked the drafts by the Ravens under Savage.  Good move!

Quote"Watch Peyton Manning and what he has done with those young receivers," said Gannon, who also cited the Saints' Drew Brees and "his living down there in New Orleans. I think it's important to be a fixture in the building. If I was coaching, that's one thing I would insist upon.

Does Kolb live in the Philadelphia area in the off season?  The young receivers all b line to him for help.
"Well where does Jack Lord live, or Don Ho?  That's got to be a nice neighborhood"  Jack Singer(Nicholas Cage) in Honeymoon in Vegas.

Eagles "Banner" offseason moves thus far:

"Fire" Tom Heckert.  Check.

Hire a four-eyed accountant with almost no personnel experience to run the team.  Check.

Hire a guy to coach the defensive backs who ran not one but two(!) organizations into the ground.  Check.

Hire another guy who ran a franchise into the gutter to "help" the four-eyed accountant with no experience scout the country for talent.  Check!

Awesome.

whats hilarious is that because of the utter incompetance of the moves that preceeded them the eagles somehow made the savage and jauron moves look great

its actually a brilliant strategy if you think about it

Sgt PSN

i think the jauron move is, or at least could be a very good move.  he's a legitimate defensive coach/coordinator.  he just sucks as a head coach.

but yeah, the rest of the offseason desicions with front office personnel are a complete and total joke.  like it wasn't bad enough for the last 10 years with the eagles being arrogant enough to think they can just plug any player into certain positions (specifically lb, wr and safety) and think that it's going to be successful.  but now they've moved that philosophy to the front office too.  what an absolute joke.

to say i'm sick of the clowns who run the show in philly would be an understatement.  i'm actively hating them now.

i'm sure they care deeply.

QuoteThe hiring of Dick Jauron to coach the secondary was only one of several moves the Eagles announced yesterday.

The departure of Tom Heckert to Cleveland and Heckert's hiring of pro personnel director Jon Sandusky from the Birds left open both Howie Roseman's old job as director of player personnel, after Roseman replaced Heckert, and Sandusky's job. As expected, those jobs were filled by Ryan Grigson, the former director of college scouting, and Louis Riddick, formerly a pro scout. Riddick is an ex-pro personnel chief for the taterskins.

As the dominoes continued to tumble, Anthony Patch was named assistant director of college scouting, after being a West Coast scout; Andy Speyer was named Southwest regional scout, after serving as Midwest regional scout; and Brett Veach was named pro and college scout, after spending the previous three seasons as assistant to the head coach.

Two assistant coaches (and ex-Eagles) also moved up on the coaching staff, Mike Caldwell to assistant linebackers coach and Mike Zordich to defensive quality control coach. Last season, Caldwell had the quality control job and Zordich was a coaching intern.

In a statement, Roseman called Grigson "an unbelievable advisor for me and somebody I have bounced a lot of ideas off over the years. Ryan is one of the unsung talented evaluators in the National Football League . . . Ryan is not only a good scout but one of the best people and family men I have come across in the NFL."

Roseman called Riddick "a heck of an evaluator that also helps out the coaches with their game advances." *

Nice to see that Howie's good enough to have leap frogged all those guys. Or maybe that's how bad all those guys suck. Either way, good times in April. Made even better by the super scheduling - only one round on the first night, a Thursday. Must be the same good folks who come up with the Probowl ideas. How come they don't have the last compensatory picks after round 7 on Sunday night?
