Eagles Ink FB Wright To Two-Year Deal

The Eagles announced on Friday afternoon that they have signed fullback Dwayne Wright to a two-year contract.

Originally a fourth round draft choice of Buffalo in 2007, the 5-11, 228-pound Wright appeared in 15 games for the Bills in his rookie campaign. A fullback with the ability to run the ball, Wright recorded 94 rushing yards on 29 attempts. He was released by the team prior to the start of the 2008 season. Wright spent the 2009 preseason with the New York Giants but did not make the team.

interesting. maybe a low ball no signing bonus deal in case signing weaver hits a problem or stocking up early with camp bodies

Tomahawk

It means the Eagles are not going to re-sign Weaver

yeah, Joe had these words of encouragement on that one

QuoteEagles president Joe Banner explained on Friday that he would return to the role of lead contract negotiator with Howie Roseman's promotion to the general manager post. Banner said that while Roseman will continue to be "involved and help" with contract negotiations, the Eagles want the new GM to "focus on getting the right evaluations on players."

One aspect for determining who will handle specific contract negotiations will be the relationships with respective agents. That answer was followed up by the question as to who has the better relationship with DeSean Jackson's agent Drew Rosenhaus.

"You'll have to ask Drew," Banner said.

Comcast SportsNet's Derrick Gunn reported on Thursday that league sources indicated to him that Rosenhaus will approach the Eagles about a long-term contract extension for the Pro Bowl wide receiver and return specialist.

Banner explained that there are players "that require immediate attention" because their contracts are due to expire in March. There are 14 players who are about to become either restricted or unrestricted free agents. There are another 10 players who have just one year left on their respective deals.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

I'm just trying to picture IGY's reaction when the Eagles pass up on a player that everyone knows the Eagles should take, and in the post-draft interviews Banner says that "Howie wasn't a big fan of the guy when scouting him."

well thats the big fear...even now with the gm title he will never run a draft - which makes the eagles assertion that he did so last year that much more ridiculous

Which is exactly why I think this:
Reid ain't goin' nowere. We all know it. The perfect scenario, or as perfect as it would get, is for Reid to be GM and all football/personnel operations on this team. Imo, this is what will happen eventually. Until then we will have to suffer through more terrible clock management and late game decision making.

QuoteVick says he's still a top 10 quarterback
Posted by Mike Florio on February 1, 2010 10:33 PM ET
In a Monday appearance on The Dan Patrick Show, Mike Vick was asked to identify where he thinks he ranks among NFL quarterbacks.

"Top 10, to be honest," Vick said.  "I'm confident in my skills."

Still, Vick said he wouldn't rule out a return to Philly.  "I would really have to think about it," Vick said.  "I like the coaching staff.  I like the people around there.  Maybe I would do it.  Who knows?"

lol, still a top 10? He never was. And since he doesn't have the legs he once did, he'd maybe make a mediocre starter.
