oh, well if that's the worst case scenario, then who gives a shtein, right?  it's not like they're any good.

mpmcgraw

I like getting really high draft picks for fullbacks and slot recievers, so yes as long as the Eagles tender them high enough than I really don't give a shtein what happens after that.

Sgt PSN

avant is arguably expendable, although i wouldn't argue it since dude is money, especially on 3rd down.  and no one ever sees the value of a solid, well rounded fullback.  until you don't have one.  neither one of those guys are household names and probably never will be, but i'd take them over unproven draft picks any day of the week.  especially weaver.  exactly how many good fullbacks has he ever drafted?

JackStraw

...or how many fullbacks has he ever used? Westbrook may have lasted a few more seasons if he was running behind a fullback a number of those years...but nooooo lets have him get plastered by the first hit cause of the empty backfield allowing reid an extra na brown or two in the play.

worst case scenario they sign with another team and we get draft picks.  They are both restricted.
how the farg is a guy going into his 6th professional season restricted? do you have any idea how it works?

It has to do with the CBA running out, if there isn't a new one he will be.

Bleacher Report on what the Eagles do with their FA's:

Sean Jones - will be re-signed unless the Eagles get Atogwe or think they can draft Mays.
Trotter - Bye-bye.
Babin - Gone.
Tracy White - Signed. He's Ike Reese Part II.
Leonard Weaver - The #1 guy the Eagles should be re-signing.
Jason Avant - The #1A guy the Eagles should be re-signing.
Ellis Hobbs - Most likely gone, unless there isn't a market for him.
Nick Cole - Only if the Eagles get him cheap, otherwise let him walk.
Alex Smith - Gone.
Gaither - See ya.
Max Jean-Gilles - Adios.
Chris Gocong - 50/50 shot at staying or going. Back as a back up, but nothing more.
Sav Rocca - Likely will stay. How much of a market is there for punters?
Akeem Jordan - Probably will be back.

My opinion:

Sean Jones - bring him back for depth or to push Quintin Mikell at SS. Jones is way better in the box. Gotta go after a big time FS, ATogwe would be awesome.

Trot - love ya, but they need studs at LB

Babin - Don't care, depth if anything. Go after Peppers.

White - Sign him

Weaver - must sign

Avant - must sign

Hobbs - sign him; his KOR ability is sorely needed

Cole - agree, only sign him on the cheap, good depth

Alex Smith - beat it

Gaither - bye

MJG - get out

Gocong - STs and depth only

Rocca - bring him back. After being a hater for the most part of the year and then finding out that it was Daisher who was limiting him, I want to see him get a shot learning under April.

Jordan - bring him back

Munson

Like it or not, with the Andrews brothers being busts and Jamaal Jackson coming back from a torn knee....MJG needs to stay. He's an at his best average guy who knows the system....who the hell is behind him? anybody?

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

if 2010 remains an uncapped year, it will then take 6 years instead of 4 to become an unrestricted FA. The others become restricted FAs.

another part of the uncapped year structure is the final eight rule which puts restrictions on the final 8 teams in the playoffs signing FAs, and even more restrictions on the final four teams. The Eagles won't have those restrictions but jerruh will, so he won't be able to go out on a spending spree in the uncapped year  (if they lose this week they could get 1 FA at a salary of about $5 mil per year, and only if they lose a FA at around the same salary).

IMO it looks more likely the owners have more to gain by an uncapped year in 2010 and it is more likely than not to happen.

Gocong will probably go to a 3-4 team that will let him rush the passer. I could see the Chargers being interested.

Where of course he'll go off being at his natural position and getting a shtein load of sacks.

Even if that's true, he wasn't completely bad. Tied for 9th for punts inside the 20. 16th for net average. Nothing special, but he could put it out of the back of the endzone every time if he wanted.

Yes I do. He's restricted.
