another mystery in reids understanding of the game. being that every down is crucial in sustaining a drive, especially in a tight game like that... whats with the obsession with vick? I mean...I cant..

shorebird

Whats the point in even having him on the roster if you aren't going to use him.

General_Failure

They do use him. As little as possible both in terms of plays and yards gained.

I'm sure Reid is STILL trying to figure out how to use Vick. Not sure what the holdup is. Oh wait, retardation

the holdup might be that vick sucks

mussa

as a QB yes, we all know this, but you can hand the ball off to him more than one play a game. oh wait, they don't run the ball. yeah...

QuoteVick: A return to the Eagles would be "an everyday struggle"
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on November 9, 2009 11:09 AM ET
On Sunday night, Tony Dungy mentioned Buffalo as a possible "dark horse" to retain the services of Michael Vick in 2010.  What's clear is that Vick is unlikely to stay in Philadelphia, and it sounds like that's just fine with him.

"It would be hard," Vick said of returning to the Eagles in a conversation with Bob Costas.  "It would be an everyday struggle. But I would have to take that time to hone my skills and get better. I'm excited about the opportunity I have moving forward whether it's with Philadelphia or another team."

Vick thinks he has more to offer than just being a Wildcat quarterback -- he only played two snaps Sunday night in Philadelphia's loss to Dallas.

"I won't be a Wildcat guy. I can't," Vick said, speaking about his future.  "It's a different style of play. It's almost like a hit-or-miss type of thing. My position is quarterback. That's what I was born to do."

Approached after the game by the Associated Press, Vick wisely didn't discuss his future.  It can only serve as a distraction right now.  But as we wrote last night, Vick's lack of explosiveness in the present is not going to help his chances of getting a job or Philadelphia's chances of getting decent trade offers.

Even Vick admits to having doubts about his ability.

"I would be lying if I said there wasn't some doubt there. I'm being realistic about the situation," Vick said.

Wasted roster spot.

Wasted plays.

Wastedcat offense.

Best case scenario: Trade him to buffalo for Owens.  Then demote Owens to the practice squad.
I'm not from Philly but some say I'm blunt.

Reid has no clue how to run the wildcat or how to utilize Vick in it. All he has Vick do is run, and in that case you're better off with DJ, Westbrook, Shady, or even Maclin. The only value Vick brings is the threat of passing, especially down field to Jackson, which keeps the D honest and not stacking the box.

Vick has close to a $6 million salary next year with no cap hit so there's no way he's back, barring a startling improvement and QB injuries. Because of this and numerous other questions surrounding Vick, there's little chance the Eagles get anything for him in a trade.

every time reid puts vick out on the field, he is losing what little trade value he might have had to begin with.  the wildcat is such a joke because the personnel on the field don't scare anyone, it's way too predictable what the eagles are going to do when vick is on the field and on top of that, they simply don't know how to execute it properly.

it's about as effective as the playaction coming off 12 straight pass plays.

it needs to end like yesterday.

if they're going to send vick out there i'd actually rather see him just drop back and pass

But from Reid's smug little perch, he's outfoxing us all by saving this ultimate weapon for the playoffs

Ah, but that's just what Reid wants you to think. Jack is right.

He's really setting the groundwork to use play action at a most critical and unsuspected moment, when the playoffs hang in the balance, to set up and unleash a totally useless time out.

2 seconds before the 2 minute warning. Oh wait, doing that again might not fool alert opponents.

ice grillin you

the problem with the eagles wildcat is that its not really part of their offense...there no rhyme or reason and certainly no consistency in how its used...

you cant just out of the blue throw it in the middle of nowhere during the game and expect it to work...its like andy is using it like a team would use a flea flicker or a double reverse...but the wildcat isnt a trick play...its an offense...no different than a running or passing game is...thus you have to donate lots of practice time to it and use it a lot more during the game in order to execute it well
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

General_Failure

It might take them as many years to sort out the wildcat as it took them to implement that fancy shotgun formation they're so fond of now.
