Orrrr he's a hell of a lot busier dealing with shtein on the homefront right now.

But no, you're right. I'm sure he's just ignoring it and doesn't plan on doing anything about it.

Like Chicago's bid for the Olympics?

Weren't the republicans (and some dems) spewing about him taking on too many tasks at once when he first got into office? Christ.

I don't care if he blacks out Afghanistan on a map for his entire first year of presidency...year 1 needed to be about the economy, health care, and fixing our image around the world. Not a war that could have been over by now if previous administrations didn't find it necessary to distract America from the failure of finding Bin Laden by starting another war on false pretenses and shotty intelligence, with no escape plan.

:o fixing our image? what the farg. Farg, you want to black out the war and worry about our image? get a fargin clue.

Munson

Afghanistan has nothing to do with our image....most people who aren't crazies that want death to america agreed with us going there to find bin Laden...Most of the world, on the other hand, hated us for going to Iraq/torture/overall arrogance that has been displayed the last 8 years.

Seriously, come off it. You're an idiot if you think he's doing nothing...as Sarge has already pointed it. Just because he is paying attention to more pressing matters like the economy right now, and rightfully so, doesn't mean he plans on ignoring Afghanistan for the next 3 years.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

never said he's done nothing, he's done a lot. but how does a war not reflect our image?

i really think it should be illegal to sell contraceptives to people with an IQ over 125.  the wrong end of the bell curve is reproducing at a much higher level for obvious reasons.

with a higher influx of children that are not mildly retarded eventually conservatism as it is today will die and the world will rejoice

We're really the only advanced country that even has such conservative views anymore. Eh, what can you do.

PhillyMic-Most of the world has been looking to us (and in some cases blaming us) for the economic crisis....again, more pressing issues.

Most of the world has been blaming us for everything for a long time. Should we apologize for everything?

Munson

Well, thanks for making my point about the arrogance.

No, it's not about apologizing...it's about trying to get the global economy back to being stable, and figuring out ways to make sure it doesn't get this bad again. Which was one of the issues discussed at the G20 meetings. More. Pressing. Issues.

dude, more pressing issues? Our President is flying over seas to pitch chicago for the Olympics. explain how that is goingto get the global economy stable? who the farg cares about the Olympics and the horrible impact in the long run it will have on Chicago?

arrogance? nah, just tired of it being played that we are the big bad bully.

Munson

Yes, you're right. World leaders never ever take a few days to try and pitch why a city in their country would be perfect for hosting the Olympics.

If only Obama knew that if he spent those few days in Afghanistan, all would be well.

Of course if Obama fails to bring the olympics to the US then the wingnuts will blame him. Likewise, if he does manage to do so then they'll cry that he should have been spending his time doing something else. You can turn it around as well - If Obama did not go overseas and the olympic bid failed they would fault him for not going. I guess the only situation in which the Right Wing would not whine like little bitches is if Obama did not go overseas and Chicago won the bid?

ATV

Regarding Afgainistan,

With his June 10, 2009 Senate approval to take command in Afghanistan, McChrystal was promoted to General.[4][7][17] Shortly after McChrystal assumed command of NATO operations, Operation Khanjar commenced, marking the largest offensive operation and the beginning of the deadliest combat month for NATO forces since 2001.[18]

So Obama has spoken with this general just once in the past three months? Speaking of serious business, yes, yes! This must be some serious business! Who needs a Secretary of Defense and a chain of command? Phooey on that I say. All hail the Right Wing media and it's instance on taking a dump on our President no matter how fabricated or trivial.

It's idiotic that he's going, if they get it or not it's retarded. There I stated my stance so I can't turn it around late.

Interesting posts from all...

What don't you understand about the general's request.  He said we need 40,000 more troops and ASAP or Afghanistan is going to fail.  Obama has been mum on the issue.  Afghanistan is Obama's justified war.  So either pull the troops out, or give the general his resources.

And you are more concerned about how OBama is repairing our world image??? That's number one on my radar too.  I really care what a dictator like Chavez has to think about our president.  I'm delighted he no longer smells "sulfur" at the UN pulpit.

Meanwhile, Obama continues to alienate our strongest allies...  but what the hell.. we need to make concessions to the countries that dislike us... screw our alies.
