Of course this has been said a million times and no one wants to hear it, esp since the D and ST lost the game more so, but running the ball from the start and continuously would have at least kept the D off the field somewhat. Can't have that...Andy has gotta prove that his boy Kolb can do it.

I think Andy would have splooged right there on the field had Kolb hit 400 yards passing in a loss.

cobb is horrendous....touchdown at the end of the half was game over

I thought going into the half at 17-13 the Eagles still had a fairly decent chance especially since they got the ball back. When Hobbs fumbled, it was game pretty much over. When Kobb threw the pick on the next drive, it was the proverbial nail in the coffin.

What was the run/pass ratio for the first half? Seemed like the Eagles were probably passing more than they should have but I was still surprised to see Kobb with 51 attempts. He did better than I thought, but still don't want to see the guy playing unless the Eagles are up by at least 2 TDs; dook's an interception machine

If you are getting killed, you might as well get Kolb as much work as possible.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

I thought Kolb looked very solid in the first half.  He wasn't bad in the second half until special teams mistakes forced him to play from behind.

Don Ho

As was well covered on this thread all week leading up to kickoff, if this game came down to Kolb having to win it with his arm and trying to match the Saints TD for TD the birds were screwed.  Defense had to hold the Saints to less than 24 to have a chance.  Being outscored 31 - 9 in the second half is just pathetic.

My god, that list of ST miscues is ridiculous.

This was how I felt.  Kolb wasn't as bad as expected, in fact drove the ball down the field on several drives.  Missed a few times, unfortunately at key points in the game, but it was his first start.  He probably doesn't deserve the vitriol he's getting here.

Save that for the horrific LB corp and the STs.  Christ, we'll be seing a lot of TEs getting big games this year, by the looks of it.

Props to the Saints. Birds look average... They will win some good ones and lose some zesty ones and be sniffing for Wildcard scraps. Andrews1, Andrews2, McRibs, zesty teams= Championship

They threw the ball 51 times and ran barely over 20 attempts. 1st game failure. 2nd is lack of sustaining drives, led to the defense being on the field all game and winded. This is because of the pass happy offense. Even with a sub-par QB in, they still can't stop passing.

Actually the were doing a fairly good job of running a balanced offense in the first half.  But when you end up being down 18 points in a matter of minutes it is going to kill your game plan.

Like DMF said; in the first half they were running.

But when you come out of the locker room and you're down 31-13 before people get back from taking a piss, you have to throw it to catch up

Tomahawk

I don't think they were running it even in the first half. There were probably only 6 legitimate runs and about another 4 out of the wildcat which I guess counts, but still probably doesn't put it at 50% run/pass ratio. This is just by memory so I'm probably completely wrong

reese125

Wasnt there like a 3rd and 6 where reid ran a qb option to the outside with Kolb at qb? I thought that was pretty cute.

MadMarchHare

Yeah, having the least athletic QB running outside to be killed is cute, I guess.

Make putting Garcia in there easier though.
