QuoteBar won't show games with Vick

The Michael Vick backlash has stretched all the way to a sports bar in Northern Idaho.

Steve Coffman, who owns Slates Prime Time Grill and Sports Bar in Sandpoint, said he is boycotting the Eagles and its corporate sponsors — including the makers of both Coors and Miller beer — until the team releases Vick, according to the Bonner County Daily Bee.

Coffman has already sent emails to the NFL, the Eagles and a number of corporate sponsors with the goal of getting Vick out of the league.

"I've just about had it," he told the newspaper. "When you look at some of these sports players and what they do and what they get away with ... and we as consumers just seem to turn a blind eye every time this goes on. I think I've just reached a point where I said, 'I've had enough of this.'"

The bar will no longer show Eagles games and no longer serve Coors Light, its most popular beer.

"I think I have to just make a stand, even though we're way up here in northern Idaho," he said. "Hopefully, a lot more businesses and bar owners are going to make that same stand."

I didn't realize Vick got away with anything. If memory serves, he was punished in accordance to the law.

Even if he runs the most popular bar in all of Idaho, I doubt his boycotts impact any of the Eagles sponsors' bottom line.

yeah, vick totally got away with it.

he committed a dispicable crime and spent almost 2 yrs in fed prison.  he's paid his debt to society and if the league feels inclined to reinstate him fully, then that's a league decision.

goodell could still decide to suspend vick for the year.  or for 2 years.  or for life.  it's his league and his call.

phattymatty

its incidents like this that make me love the vick signing.

he got away with it in the sense that anyone else who acted like him, did what he did, was as obviously stupid as he is, would not be welcomed back into their former careers like this.  The question isn't whether or not he served the time the law allowed, the question is how come the rest of us don't get the same second chance?

Because he can throw a football is the correct answer by logic, but there's something very farged up with that fact.

That depends. Anyone caught running a gambling ring would probably never leave the organized crime family they were in. Anyone caught killing dogs would probably be welcome back to his job as a horse sperm collector.

if me or you got caught running a dog fighting ring we probably wouldnt do a day in jail

the rich and famous certainly have an advantage in the quality of the defense they can put together but in many cases including this one they are made an example of and not only face a harsher punishment but also the public scrutiny and vitriol after they pay their dues....it goes both ways

vick has this attached to his name his wifes name and his kids names for the rest of their lives...they will never get away from it till the day they die...something that would never happen to any of us
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

Why did he also decide to stop selling his most popular beer?
Where is the connection btw vick and coors light?

Rome

Coors Brewing Co. is one of the Eagles' sponsors.  He's boycotting the Eagles by not showing any of their games in his sports bars plus not selling any product whose parent company does business with the Birds.

In other words, he's using this for publicity for his zesty little bar.

I hope it burns to the ground with him in it.
