Mixed emotions on this one, but i think it is clear Reid realizes he has 2 years to win it all and is willing to take bigger risks to have a lethal offense

Really? Cause then he would have traded for Boldin with that first round pick instead of using it on a rookie who has more of a chance of being a average WR or bust than being a another Desean Jackson.

awesome...and what happened with the other 10 years....just kind of see what happens with a mediocre offense?

call me crazy but I think alot of this is predicated on the fact that his kids are drug addict losers and this signing is almost like hes trying to reach out to them to make a point that he does give second chances to win them back...yep I said it.

or he would have paid a couple extra bucks for dawkins

of all the moves andy reid has ever made that could be construed as "going for it" this ranks near the bottom

QB Eagles

Quote from: NC_Eagle on August 14, 2009, 03:37:52 PMFor him being here for a wildcat role, we already have Maclin, Jackson and Westbrook who can easily fill that role. Maybe it's just me, but I don't really see what he adds to the team that we didn't already have.

I'm not sure the wildcat will see as as much success this year as in '08 with teams having a whole off-season to review tapes and drill on it. You have to really emphasize it in your offense (Miami) to do it right consistently, otherwise it's about as successful as any other gimmick play. (Oakland, just about everyone else)

I wouldn't really mind having another Jackson or Westbrook....

The point about the wildcat is that it's not a gimmick play anymore. It's turning into a commonly used formation, just as the T formation was once considered a trick play. The Dolphins revolutionized the game when they stomped the Patriots last year. You can defend against the wildcat, but I think it will be a growing part of the game since it has innate advantages... there's no wasted player (QB) just standing there watching the running play develop, and you can still pass, reverse, etc. Lining up in the wildcat doesn't really tip off what the play is going to be.

I hate frigging cats and think he should play.

People need to stop with the "Eagles are going for it" shtein too.  Whatever the reason for the signing, I really believe it's not their belief Vick's going to provide them that edge.

you mean a 29 year old fresh off a two year bid at levenworth with no position isnt going to put the eagles over the top?

derrick burgess to help the non existent pass rush nope

tony gonzalez nope

^ Yeah and this it what makes this difficult for me to get a grasp on.  Then again he didn't cost them anything.

MadMarchHare

I've more or less come around on this.  He's only getting 1MM, and if he hasn't lost a step can help.  That's a big if, but at least it's cheap.  He's at least as good as Booker, even if he's lost a step.

Still, I can easily see a loud PETA rally outside the stadium becoming mixed up with drunken louts from the tailgate, and that shtein getting out of hand.
Anyone but Reid.

i cant wait for Peta fargs to be out there, i cant stand them.
