100% chance every member of that club votes republican.

TPMCafe:

QuoteJohn Duesler, President of Valley Swim Club, wrote in a letter to the group that a lot of kids might change the "complexion" and atmosphere of the club. (A questionable choice of words if there ever was one.) So this looks like a pretty clear racism story.

But here's the thing--if it's the same John Duesler, this guy is an Obama supporter and peace activist. He was on the team that set up a blood drive (Opositive) to celebrate Obama's inauguration, and here's a link to a peace seminar in which he participated.

The one thing that pisses me off about race issues is that people are dying to make it a national story just so they can get their "I'm not one of those who hates blacks" agenda out there, and show everyone how they are these men and women of the people.

Honestly, this story doesn't come close to deserving national news. It was dumb(even though I hear 5 different stories about what happened at the pool) but you can do a lot worse. If the black kids were slaughtered or something horrible, then it would be a story. This is not a story.

If this happened to asian or indian kids it wouldn't be a story either, or at least not be close to as big of one.

and if it was a club in north philly and a bunch of jewish kids got kicked out, no one would be calling the race card, all people would be saying was that the jewish kids were stupid to go to a club in a dangerous area like north philly in the first place.

yeah racism only matters if people die

whats really funny is people like you catching feelings over other people being victims of racism/sexism/ ect......why do you care so much that you have to bring up several non sequitors about indian kids or jewish kids in north philly...completely hypothetical stuff...sounds like you have some dark feelings you need to sort thru

im pretty sure the 8 year old kids who had to go thru the idiot parents at the pool who made comments about how they were gonna hurt all the white kids or steal things  and saw the entire pool clear out cause they were there think this is something not worthy of a casual dismissal

[quoteMontco club set to ask campers back to its pool
By Vernon Clark

The Montgomery County swim club that sparked a racial furor when it disinvited a Philadelphia day camp of mostly black and Hispanic children last month wants to invite the group back, a club official said yesterday.

"The board decided we would reach out to [the city camp] Creative Steps to . . . get the kids back to the club in a safe environment," John G. Duesler Jr., president of the Valley Club in Huntingdon Valley, said last night.

A storm of controversy has surrounded the club since it barred a return by Creative Steps' 65 children after the group's first visit there June 29.

Asked why the club was reversing course, Duesler said, "Because it's the right thing to do."

How the new overture will go over with officials and families at Creative Steps Inc. of Northeast Philadelphia was not clear.

Duesler said he had "reached out" with his conciliatory message to Creative Steps director Alethea Wright "in e-mails, phone calls, and texts. I have not heard back yet."

"They should have done that before," Wright told CNN last night. "These children are scarred. How can I take those children back there?"

A lawyer whose firm filed a discrimination lawsuit against Valley Club on Friday on behalf of an unnamed Creative Steps mother with four children said yesterday that the club's overture would put the suit on hold.

"We find this to be a very positive development," said the lawyer, David Mildenberg. "We applaud the club's decision."

Mildenberg & Stalbaum P.C. had sued Friday in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

"We are hopeful that a resolution will be reached that allows these children to return to the club," said Mildenberg, who said his Philadelphia firm was handling the suit on a pro bono basis.

On June 29, 65 children from Creative Steps made their first visit to the club and heard members make racial remarks and saw parents escort their children from the pool.

On July 3, the Valley Club refunded a $1,950 check to the camp to terminate the deal that allowed the children, from kindergarten through seventh grade, to swim there.

Club member Amy Goldman said those at a hastily called meeting at the club yesterday afternoon agreed to reinstate the memberships of Creative Steps and two other day camps as long as safety issues, times, and terms could be agreed upon, according to the Associated Press.

The ouster of the children prompted protests at the club the last few days.

Other clubs have offered their pools to the campers.

The Pennsylvania Human Rights Commission is investigating, and Sen. Arlen Specter (D., Pa.) has asked the Justice Department to see whether the club violated the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

kudos to them...for the record the president of the club does seem like a geniunely nice guy who made a mistake when he kowtowed to some of his racist members

i wonder how many members they lose because of it though...not that the day care center will or should go back (it would just be to uncomfortable) but a lot of their members will think this is selling out to the negroids public pressure and will undoubtedly be furious about it

I hope the DN is able to track those who do not renew membership after this, and publish their names to expose them.

It doesn't have to be that black and white(no pun intended). The issue can matter without being a national news story. Still, people use race in this country to magnify the heinousness of the act. When it all comes down to it, all they did was kick kids out of a pool. Was the reason wrong? Absolutely. It was completely unfair and uncalled for. Should these people be compared to the KKK and be put on the same level as people who are rapists and murderers? No. Maybe you've heard different responses, but you'd think this pool owner was Adolf Hitler from what I heard from some people.

People should be able to admit someone did something wrong while still being able to keep it in perspective.

no one compared them to rapists or murderers or the kkk...and the fact that it became national news has nothing to do with anything...dont be racist and ignorant but if youre going to be keep it in your own living room...hell i dont even care if the club is whites only its private they can do what they want there

but once you start spewing your hate on others then it should go national...hell what price are these people going to pay other than the negative attention...they will be sippin gin and tonics in the valley laughing about all this next week

i doubt 8 year old kids will get over it as fast

The psychological exams they administer to cops don't seem to be working very well.  Everywhere you turn you hear stories of cops losing it like that or having sex with bitches while they're on duty and that's not even counting the ones on the take or kicking the shtein out of their wives and kids.

It's a zesty job and all, but goddamn, why does it seem like the only people police departments are getting these days are mental castoffs?

SunMo

probably because you'd have to be a crazy mother farger to want to be a city cop nowadays
