The MLB draft starts in an hour on MLBN.  Since nobody knows or cares, I'll sum it up:

-- the best college pitcher ever created goes to Washington #1, followed by 3 months of Boras bulls**t
-- the small-market teams take cheap college players
-- the Tigers will seriously overpay someone to get them to break their scholarship
-- a bunch of white kids from the southern half of the US will get picked. Most will be named Chad, Tyler, Justin, Dustin or Zack

heard today that teams cannot trade draft picks.  that's a pretty stupid farging rule.

yup, but I think they're looking to include it in the next CBA, along with a slotting system for salaries like the NBA so Boras can't pull his usual crap

plus teams that sign big name free agents lose their picks, so the Phils don't pick until round 2 (since Seattle got their pick for Ibanez)

i'm guessing that's how the angels ended up with 2 first round picks then?  got one from the yankees when they signed teixiera?

They got the Mets pick for K-Rod and the Yankees pick for Teixeira, then they lost their own to Colorado for Fuentes.  They also got two compensatory picks between the first and second round for those losses...
