I'll never forget my free & easy days after I was laid off about 11 years ago. With my $300 a week to cover food, mortgage, debt & utilities for a family of 4, we could never decide on what island we'd vacation on. Good times

i work for the federal govt for one reason and one reason only...because getting laid off was probably the worst experience of my life and i asked myself what job would give me the best security to where this wont ever happen again

This is so true, except I think he means to take a break and figure out what he's going to do, then join the real world again. The guy has pride, so I see it eating away at him before anything. But the fact that he bitches about it and then goes and lives it, is pure entertainment for me

I am counting down the days, Tuesday is my last day in the Army, well technically May 13th but I am taking terminal leave.  I plan on collecting unemployment for at least a month or two.

  of my bad I forget that everyone here is not familiar with or part of the military.  Basically whatever you date is that you are supposed to get out you can use the leave you accrued to get that date bumped up.  So I get out on the 21st since I had 23 days left of leave.  Technically I am still in the Army until the 13th I just won't be around.

I worked until my last day then sold back 70 days of leave for like $3000. Enjoy civilian life, I still have a dream at least once a week that I'm back in the Navy.

Yeah it is kind of bittersweet, I know I will miss my boys, though I won't miss all of the BS.  I didn't want to sell it back because they tax the crap out of it and you don't get BAH and BAS.  Plus I am getting an extra 500 this month and next for being stop lossed.

no one answered my question about littering.

pretty sure if we had all thrown empty shell casings on the ground at the march to protest Sean Bell's execution we'd have been cited for littering.
