This doesn't look like racism to me...more like authority addled assholism.

Power-tripping cops in Texas?

Oh, no way.

That'll teach Moats to talk about eating some cop's cousin's ass with a spoon.

The man. The myth. The legend.

I appreciate the job that Cops do but this guy is a complete icehole and can't be fired soon enough.

It's possible to appreciate cops and also recognize that there are a lot more than just a few of them who act like this all the time.  The behavior is very typical of a substantial section of police.  We can't live without cops, but frankly there are a lot of cops we also really can't live with.

the fact that the cop finally found out who he was and just kept Moats standing there explaining bullshtein details of the ticket, the nurse is out there telling the cop the mother is dying, and then they are laughing about it when he leaves...that couldnt be more farged up.

I bet if Moats was white the cop would of escorted him into the hospital, wrote the ticket in the lobby and probably would of stopped by the gift shop for some flowers

The day my son was born, I was pulling out of my street with my wife in labor next to me, after waiting at the stop sign for 30-45 seconds (at least 5 cars had to go past).  Almost as soon as I had pulled out, the lights went on behind me.  I pulled into the next street, and the cop started yelling at me about running the stop sign.

After vainly arguing that I had come to a complete stop (it must have been the slowest California roll in history), I told the cop that I was taking my wife to the hospital to give birth, and it was obvious that she was in labor.  The icehole made us wait while he filled out a written warning - yes, not even a ticket, but a written warning,  I suppose he thinks I should have been eternally grateful, but I wanted to punch his lights out.

your wife should of put on her acting shoes in the car

cause if she was in serious labor... like panting very heavy, sweating, screaming curse words and racial slurs there is no reason he shouldnt escort you through traffic right up to the ER

the only thing i'll say is that once the cop put his lights on, moats definitely should have stopped and explained it right then and there and just ask the cop to go to the hospital with them.  so i can't say i fault the cop for being a little pissed.

i ran a red light about 15 years ago going to the hospital for my step mom and got pulled over, explained it to the cop and asked him to go with me and that i would deal with it once everything was settled at the hospital.  cop was nice about it, went to the hospital with me and ultimately opted not to write me a ticket.

having said that, this cop was still a total dick.  no reason at all he couldn't have walked in with moats and then waited to write him a ticket if he felt the need.

Officer Robert Powell and his wife have updated their MySpace pages in response to the intense criticism from this story.

Robert Powell - "All I can do is HOLD MY HEAD UP HIGH n wait for this to blow over. Thanks to everyone that standing behind me n helping me get through this.Love U Honey!!"

Wife Jody Powell - "I f***ing hate the media....they love to f***ing screw peoples lives up. Honey I Love U n things will get better. F*** anyone that believes the media"

Are you kidding me? Are you farging kidding me? Really? The media? No, you stupid funhole, it's your husband, not the media. Not even slightly. It's him and I'm so glad this shtein came out. This cop attitude, although I know is not the norm, is a serious issue that needs to be addressed. Serious enough for police to do in internal investigation to see how deep this goes. This guy should fry - and it's Texas...anythings possible.

Eagaholic

it's texas and anything's possible, like him getting promoted and put in charge of officers training.

posting that while he's being investigated, on a domain like myspace, settles any doubt about him (and her) being a clueless POS.

Sgt PSN

what disturbes me more than anything now is that we've got cops on myspace typing like 12 year old kids.

fry his ass.
