In the past month I watched all three seasons of Deadwood.  After the Wire--that goes without saying--it's the best teevee I've ever watched.  I enjoyed the hell out of Swearengen and EB Farnum's characters.  Calamity Jane was very good, and Dan Doherty was a great character too.  The language is great fun to listen to; Swearengen's soliloquoys when getting a blowjob or talking to the chief are a pleasure to hear.

So yeah, good show.

Dude...   Deadwood was one of the best shows ever put on TV without a doubt.  I agree - Swearengem, Farnum, Blaylock, were all great characters.  Glad you caught it and enjoyed it.

yeah, great farging show, i wish they would have finished it like they were planning to

I was a bit disappointed that we didn't get to see a full blown fight between the Pinkertons and the rag tag gang Swidgen assembled.  Obviously they went a better route as far as story telling goes, but I wanted to see Dan and Charlie Utter and Wu's "celestials" tear the Pinkertons apart.

Speaking of them, one of my favorite scenes is when Swearengen takes out the Pinkerton guy.  Apart from his devotion to his own interests, Swidgen harbors a healthy and admirable class hatred against the traitors who kill for rich men.  It's one thing for him to kill for himself, or even to have his henchmen do it, but to Al Swearengen there is a difference between that and mercenaries killing women to support the wealthy miners.  Consolidation and amalgamation, and all that.  It suited his purpose to off the Pinkerton but it also suited his hatred for those sons of bitches.

That show had curse words?

The man. The myth. The legend.

Loved Deadwood. I'm pissed that the two movies they had planned to wrap up the series never came to pass.

Breaking News?

Greg Grunberg just tweeted that AMERICAN IDOL has been canceled and won't be coming back next year...

What will fat, middle aged women watch on TV if we don't have this show??

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

My wife got me somewhat involved in an NBC show called Chuck.  I tend to be a fan of the spy genre, and I find the series enjoyable.  I haven't really watched any TV series regularly in at least a decade.  The female spy is very attractive.

MDS - what have you heard about this show?  Will it last another season, or is it about to be dumped?

Father Demon

I don't know why I watched Celebrity Apprentice, but I did.

What an ill-advised way to spend two hours.

chuck is lucky to be on nbc. its ratings pretty much blow but since nbc is run by a bunch of chimps it should last another season or two.
