They weren't thrilled about any of their choices. Longest balloting in decades. It's a good sign though, and for a few reasons.

First, he's black. The fact that the GOP has a black leader is a step forward any way you color it.

Second, he's moderate. This isn't a bible-blinded, gay hating, anti-government whack job.

Third, he's from Maryland, which after Connecticut is the best state in the United States.
