I agree on not being  buddy buddy, but Obama was just going down to the press area to say hello, and that was not the time to jump him on that subject. Now if Obama does not hold a press conference or does not address this issue raised, well then thats just not right.

It will be weird to see the mainstream press adjust to be more critical of Obama, but you had to know it was going to happen.

Many may lean left and support most of his policies, but you're not going to sell newspapers or get web hits with a bunch of feel-good, rah-rah stories.

More importantly you'd like to think that they would do their jobs. Questioning of authority and dissent are important parts of keeping politicians in check. The media has tremendous leverage in this arena and a responsibility to investigate both sides of the issues no matter where their personal feelings lie.

agreed.

he is going to take some major hits...america is way too impatient to sit back and wait for things to happen. The economy is getting worse by the minutes, and when there is not "some kind" of resolution in a timely manner, the press and tv will come down on him hard like hes just sitting back

we all want to believe thats not the case and there is going to be change...but media wouldnt be the same without negative media about our president

not even the staunchest obama hating republican believes or expects any kind of quick fix on the economy

By :CF's standards, I fit this bill.  And I can concur.

This is true, but you're missing the point.

Plenty of bitter Republicans are already saying, 'Oh look, the savior was elected and the markets dropped further. He gets sworn in and the markets drop 4% that day. Looks like he isn't exactly the promised one after all.'

I've heard this from no less than 3 people in the past few weeks. They know that there is no quick fix, but their view of Obama as a rock star rather than a good politician (and by extension, their view of his supporters as screaming teens at a Beatles concert), skews their opinion of him even further to the negative. There is a semi-significant portion of the population that is enormously turned off by Obama's celebrity and the more vocal his supporters and the broader his appeal, the more they despise him.

These people don't expect the economy to be fixed quickly, but that isn't going to stop them from pointing out that it is still dropping and use it against the president.

The good news is that liberals have never blamed sitting conservative Presidents for problems outside of their control.

what is the point im missing?

even if what they were saying were true how are they gonna use it against the president...the fact that they would be way off base on the claim makes even less significant...christ bush spent six years tearing the constitution to shreds and nothing was used against him succesfully...some idiot republican ripping obama for not fixing the economy in his first week in office is not gonna register in the slightest

Folks making way off base claims seems to work more often then not these days.

QuoteVery Classy act by Obama going down and saying hello. The dick who tried to grill him was out of line, but I thought Mr. President handled himself perfectly.

Godamn it feels good to finally have a President again.
