Peppers wants out of Carolina: After spending his entire life in North Carolina, Julius Peppers wants out. The four-time Pro Bowl defensive end has decided he won't sign a long-term deal with the Panthers when he becomes an unrestricted free agent on Feb. 26. Peppers, who grew up in tiny Bailey, N.C., starred in college at North Carolina and was the Panthers' first-round pick in 2002, believes Carolina's defensive system is not for him - even after recording a career-high 14 1/2 sacks this season. Peppers' agent said his client wants to play in a 3-4 defense. The Panthers use a 4-3 alignment. "He certainly feels that he can excel and thrive in a 3-4 defense," the agent, Carl Carey, said. "He is also open to just another system in general that will allow him to maximize his athletic abilities."

I read that too.

But Johnson's scheme would be, you'd think, one of those that would allow him what he's looking for.

I think Suggs would be a fit too....and might come a little cheaper.  JJ likes to drop his DEs into coverage.

All I want (in this order) is
1.  Beast of a DE to go opposite Cole - the D only got pressure when blitzing
2.  Starting caliber TE (either via FA or draft) to pair with Celek
3.  Young RB to compliment Westbrook and eventually replace Westy...
4.  A more productive FB (could be Eckel, FA, or rook)
5.  No Greg Lewis

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

most of not wanting to see dawk start is selfish as i dont wanna see him become willie mays but if it means getting taylor mays then dawk can get run over for 16 staraight games next year for all i care

your an asshat. dawkins is still leagues better than 90% of safeties in the league even in his old age. and im sick of everyone saying he had bad games in NFC championship games. like that matters when the game is a team sport. correct me if I'm wrong, but most of the players had bad games in those losses. dawkins is the starter, demps needs another year before being trusted.

dawkins wasnt even the best safety on his team this year much less better than 90% of the league...he had a bunch of awful games and a bunch of good ones...hes getting worse and getting worse fast and its probably going to be next year when everyone is begging him to give it up...i want him to give it up before he gets to that point...when quintin mikell is better than you its time reevaulate where you stand

Trade Nick Cole and a 5th for Ed Reed.  Problem solved.
