The BIGSTUD

Gran Torino:

Excellent movie. The supporting actors seem like it was the first time they have ever acted in a film before, but Eastwood is so great that it makes up for it. Eastwood played his role perfectly. The ending was really good too.

A-/10
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

"Burn After Reading" - 3.5/5

If you like the Coen brothers' brand of humor, see it.  If you don't, don't.

just saw this last night, and i like their humor, but i thought they missed the mark on this one...it was just boring.

There is humor in every one of their movies with the exception of No Country for Old Men. Even Fargo has some unexpected laughs. Raising Arizona and The Big Lebowski are really the only comedies that they've made that I've seen and both are classics. (I saw the Ladykillers and it was awful so I've erased it from my memory. Does it count as a comedy? I literally don't remember if it was trying to be funny.)

fargo is a fine movie but incredibly overrated and if you laughed at anything in it i feel sorry for you....same with blood simple and millers crossing

raising arizona is horrible

i have never met one person thats seen lebowski and doesnt say its their favorite comedy of all time...and thats why ill never see it...because wherever i may be when  the inevitable repeating all its "funny' lines circle jerk happens and the belly aching laughs begin its easier for me to say ive never seen it rather than say yeah ive seen it and not funny making me look like a party pooping dick

What in the hell are you talking about? Blood Simple doesn't have humor in it, but Miller's Crossing and Fargo definitely do. Steve Buschemi's interactions with William H. Macy and Peter Storemare are funny and Macy's unhinged behavior, while brilliantly acted, is also humorous.

Miller's Crossing has some of the most witty and humorous dialog of any movie I've ever seen. It's all delivered in deadpan, but it's still funny. His conversations with the chief of police, his conversations with Casper. And there's no way you can tell me that Gabriel Byrne smashing a dude in the head with a chair only to have the guy whine and storm away isn't funny.

I think you're trying to too hard to erase the possibility of humor from these films. It's there.

they might have humor in them but i didnt laugh once......maybe in fargo i did the first time i saw it because its supposed to be goofybut in general those movies are not the least bit funny...war movies have humor in them and lines meant to elicit laughs too but i wouldnt call them comedy

Fargo is classified as a 'Dark Comedy'

I wasn't calling those movies 'comedies'. But they definitely have humor in them. Also, so much for 'feeling sorry for' me for laughing at something that is wdiely considered a dark comedy. You just said you laughed at it yourself.

Stop arguing for no reason.

i mean im trying to be nice by saying i might have laughed once when i first saw fargo...truth is its not even close to funny at any point and the coens only good movies are when they go drama/suspense not comedy

"Burn After Reading" is in the same mold as Fargo but not as good.  It is definitely a dark comedy, but it doesn't take itself quite as seriously as Fargo.
