When I come home for Christmas, I want to take my girl up to NYC on the weekend. We've decided to ride the train...what is the easiest way to get the choo-choo up there?

Take the regional from Paoli to 30th St...then what do I catch from there?

Easiest? Amtrak

It's also the costlier option.

You could do the Septa->NJ transit 3.5 hour marathon for less than half the price.

Ok, thanks...I'm looking at the Septa site now.

R5 to 30th St
R7 from 30th to the Trenton Transit Station
Then NJ Transit from there to NYC?

PhillyPhreak54

Damn, Amtrak wants $218 for two adults round trip between 30th and Penn Station.

If I figured the Septa/NJ rates right, it would cost about 100 bucks for the both of us.

R5 to 30th, transfer to R7 to Trenton and then pick up the NY train there.

When I buy the ticket at the Paoli station, do I tell them I am going from there to Trenton or do I just buy from Paoli to 30th and then buy the R7 from there to Trenton?

nah, just tell them to 30th st.

once you get to 30th street there's a bank of ticket machines, one of which is just for the Septa/NJT route.

I will wear it and take a picture at the Statue of Liberty; just for Rome.

igy...I am flying home, so I don't have an extra car at my disposal. I don't feel like renting a car just to drive up there, because that is the only time I would need my own ride.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

If you're on a budget, head to Chinatown and take one of their great buses to NYC.

See simple peons agree. Yuengling is okay, lager light is 2% alchohol so no, Lord Chesterfield is mighty tasty and my favorite out of the crew. Black and Tan is just plain, not much taste, unless of course you get it out of the keg, but I had cans and its not too special. So go fargyourself rome and finish that coors light while listening to van halen you fargin yuppie smuck  :-*
