I give LJ credit for making the first down play against Phillips sure, but he was carrying the single handed, waiving it out into space like it was a baton in a relay race...he got lucky that he didn't fumble

i know everyone hates him, including me, but LJ Smith made about 2-3 really good plays yesterday.

the first where he juked Philips and picked up the first down. the 2nd i remember was also on a 3rd down..where McNabb did a fake hand off on what seemed like a counter play and then threw to LJ in the flats who picked up the first.

even on that double fake screen play to LJ....he made a good move to pick up the yards after the catch. if he could offer this kind of productivity each game it would be great.

but part of it, i think, is that they scaled back the passing game a lot. they were not even looking to go deep much and everything seemed to be much shorter. no more 20+yd patterns. maybe that's what they need. work the ball more to Westbrook and the TEs. set up the play action and try to hit Desean on a deep ball here and there.

This is what they needed to do all season, we all know they needed to run the ball more but even more than that they needed to shorten the passing game and stop trying to force the ball downfield. The WCO was built on YAC.

Speaking of Nick Cole, he played really well.  He was blowing guys off the ball and looking to hit a linebacker next.

He was getting schooled early in the game with the stunts and blitzes, but I agree, as the game progressed he was much better.  Clearly a much better run blocker than pass protector at this point.

Cole was dreadful the first few drives, missing assignments like crazy. I was actually trying to think who they'd use if he continued to suck ass.

Agreed on LJ making plays, nice to see him wake up. But like Dio pointed out...he still, 6 years later, does not know how to protect the football.

Cole was whipped by Robbins and Tuck early on, which was somewhat expected. They picked him as their guy to beat since he was new and thats what they did, a credit to Cole for adjusting and playing well from the 2nd quarter on.

Westbrook was a stud yesterday.

It was a very windy game and was a bad day for the long ball in general. I think there was only one deep reception for the Eagles, by Curtis. All other receptions were within 15 yards. The whole offense went through Westbrook and to a much lesser extent LJ. Jackson was ineffective on two end-around attempts and on punt returns.

Jackson's probably hit the rookie wall at this point. Don't expect much more from him other than a play here or there for the rest of the season.

I find this hard to believe

i have a feeling if plex didn't decide to go rambo on himself, he would have had 5 catches 80 yards 2 td's and the tailspin would start.  instead it's going to be win as many games as you can while still missing the p.o.'s and reid for another few / 10 years.

I think my new outlook for the Eagles will be that I will think they are going to lose every game, and as they did against the Giants, they will win. Beautifully simple.

Looking at the stat sheet shows McNabb with 5 carries for 20 yards. 3 of his carries were for 1st downs.

Just saying.

QuoteEagles coach Andy Reid will never single out one of his players for blame, but he did give a clue yesterday as to what went wrong on the blocked field goal that resulted in a Giants touchdown at the end of the first half.
"That one . . . we had new people in there, so there was a little mix-up," Reid said.

The new person was Winston Justice, who allowed Justin Tuck to squeeze past him and block the kick. Justice replaced the injured Max Jean-Gilles in that spot.

It was still the best game Justice has ever played at Giants Stadium.

Reggie Brown did not dress Sunday, but he did have one TV cameo appearance during the Eagles' victory. After a wide-open Domenik Hixon dropped a 50-yard pass from Eli Manning that hit the Giants receiver right in the numbers, Brown could be seen laughing and clapping on the Eagles' sideline...

if I was Brown I would of been cold-calling my ass of on the sideline phone until somebody had a workout for me next year

If not for DeSean Jackson, the Eagles might be better off doing whatever it takes to trade the hell out of the 2nd round.  2002 is the one exception.  They got L.J. in 2003, but could have had Witten in the 3rd round.

I was laughing pretty hard when I saw Reggie on that replay clapping after the Hixon drop, classic
