btw many SOS's have little foreign policy experience before the job...not a whole lot is needed...its more of a liasion position than anything else....you have to be intelligent...a good people person and good communicator but not necessarily a foreign policy expert....certainly you need to know more than sara palin but you dont have to be the leading FP expert at the brookings institution to get the job
