Also, The Washington Times and the Post are rags, can suck it.

Well the Washington Post and the New York Times are rags too, if declines in readership mean anything.

The Post is the best paper I've ever read. And no, I haven't read it more than twice in the past 4 years. Shut up.

every newspaper has declining readership due to the simple nature of the business: the internet, television, the immediacy that people need to know whats going on. please grow a brain before ranting off moronic right wing talking points
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

also didn't mccain kick off some journalists off of his place earlier in this race?

why wasn't that a story?

I've read a couple of articles recently where McCain's people were quoted as being flabbergasted by the press' response to his candidacy. In 2000 the press loved him and they were anticipating the same kind of positive coverage. Apparently they hadn't factored in the fact that McCain has drifted farther and farther right since 2000 and isn't really the same candidate that he was 8 years ago.

That and he spent the last eight years gleefully allowing himself to get farged in the ass by Dubya. .

Maybe you should work on your writing before you bother defending the newspaper industry.

As of now, you're maybe qualified to take over for Spadaro.

What's your stance on immigration reform, Russ?

rjs246

This country was founded by immigrants and subsequently populated by immigrants looking for a better life. Frankly I don't think we should do anything. Illegal immigrants represent an important (and cheap) layer of our economy that we can't really afford to just wipe out. But it doesn't appear as though doing nothing is an option anymore so I think citizenship should be made easy to obtain for people who want to live and work here. Forcibly expelling people from the country who are trying to work and make a living is ridiculous, help them to become citizens and crack down on their employers. Not the workers themselves.

I agree, there are too many illegal's here to send them all packing, and there is a good amount of them that work hard and just want a chance. The bad ones should be sent packing.

Why can't we do both? crack down on the criminal employers and the criminals breaking in, mainly securing our borders.

QuoteHooray for the issues!

:-D yeah everything in this thread is about the issues.

You're boring.  Stick to non-issues.

I think it would be wise to improve border security for several reasons, illegal immigration among them.  And a wall is about the dumbest idea I've ever heard.  Improved security, like improved intelligence services, means more highly trained and well compensated human agents on the ground.   I also think a path to citizenship, not at all unlike what McCain once proposed before he cowed to the racist ignorant base of his party, should be laid out.  It shouldn't be easy as pie necessarily, but it must be attainable.  I'd also like to see an intelligent president and his staff make a more nuanced effort to work with other countries to get these things done.  Cooperation and negotiation rather than dictation of terms would be a nice start.

I voted early today at the library.  According to the supervisor roughly 11,000 people had voted early at just that location.  There was probably 150 people waiting in line with another 50 or so waiting inside the auditorium with numbers like you'd get at a deli in hand.

Just amazing.

Anyway, voted for Obama, but I also voted for the local GOP U.S. Congressman, John Mica because he's been an excellent representative for our district.  I also voted for my boss but my wife balanced it out by voting for his opponent.  She also voted for Obama despite some last second thoughts about leaving it blank.   The infomercial was the deciding factor, believe it or not.
