Chicago did nothing to win that game.  The Eagles flat out handed it to them and Reid was the main culprit in the gift giving.

I certainly underestimated the importance of Brian Westbrook for this game.  Really this team needs him to win period, there are very few teams this team can beat without him.  The fact of the matter is this is a pretty good football team, they just lack a coach with the ability to make adjustments when the game is on the line.  With the way the NFL is today that is just as important as talent.

Yeah, your a legend in your own mind.

Homers coming back down to earth? Gimme' a break. This team played the Cowboys down to the wire in Dallas and lost only because of a botched handoff. They flat out whipped the Steelers like a red headed step child. The main reason they lost is not because they are a bad team or a team that is not as good as most here think, it was because their coach didn't have them ready to play and his gameplan and coaching sucked major donkey dick!! But go ahead and toot your horn. If it's the way you get some sort of satisfaction from an Eagles loss, go for it. Your like Forrest Gump in the army, a goddamn genius.

no i refuse to believe this. they have a good enough O line, good enough D, and a good enough QB.

for a game against the bears you should be able to win without westbrook as long as you game plan around the fact he is not there.

I'm still amazed that, off a time out, the best option they had to punch it in to the end zone was trying Buckhalter up the middle.  Again.

farging Andy.

esp when mcnabb was making pretty good reads on that drive even utilizing hunt out of the backfield. i think he was perfect on that drive no?

No Westbrook, no Andrews, no Curtis & no L.J. are the reasons the offense shtein the bed last night.  Westbrook was a huge loss, yes, but no more so than Andrews.

General_Failure

The offense has shown that they don't need any of those guys to score points. They need the guys that are there to block and catch. McNabb wasn't exactly taking coverage sacks all night.

The man. The myth. The legend.

Rome

Eagles with a healthy Brian Westbrook = playoff caliber team.  Without him, they're in 9-7 territory again.  That's just how I see it, anyway.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

wait a second in the prediction thread they would have no problem beating the bears with or without westbrook...people calling for shutouts and trying to make up ways the bears could score and not even being able to do that...now after the fact westbrook is the entire team?

the vaunted defense gave up three 20+ yard touchdown passes to kyle friggin orton...that was a much bigger factor than no westbrook...true not as big a factor as the complete meltdown and failure to adjust by the head coach but still...its big time revisionist history to all of sudden say westbrook being out is why they lost

btw for the most part wesbrooks been healthy for the last four years...and the team is .500 in that time...like dennis green said the eagles are who we think they are

It pains me to agree with VIGY on this (to a point).  I've abandoned predictions because I'm not following the rest of the league well enough to know how well the other teams are doing.  Still, if one can't see that the Eagles pass D absolutely sucks, you are clueless.

The offense is the same as it always has been - it can put up about 20+ point on just about anyone.  Andy has one strategy: get an early lead and hang on for dear life.  If that doesn't work, their chances drop below 50-50.  It all relies on the Defense keeping the opponent under 17.  This defense cannot do that.

People will revel in the Eagles great run D, but they will continue to put up good numbers as long as the pass D is so bad.

The Eagles offense is very good, at least for 3 quarters.  Once Andy starts tightening up (and probably taking over play calling) things go in the crapper.  With Westbrook they go from good to top tier.  I think 10 wins is quite plausible, but this D isn't going to do this offense justice, preventing them from doing more.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

I said I underestimated the importance of Westbrook for the game.  I also said without him they would have a tough time beating anybody, while that is a little bit of an overstatement, they definitely need him to go anywhere.

The reason they are .500 over the last four years has to do with the quarterback issues, not the running back.  We can sit here and bring up all kinds of reasons why they lost or whatever.  Bottom line is this, this team is not going anywhere if he is not on the field.  I certainly don't see how that is revisionist history.  I still think if he was in there despite all the other factors they would have won that game.  Maybe I am wrong.  At least I am not a know it all blowhard.
