Sarah Palin and her sweet, sweet ass were at the Irish Pub in Philly tonight, a bar my roomate is a barback at. I hope he followed her into the bathroom and snuck a peak at her beaten-in snatch.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

I'd give Obama the slight edge after seeing the whole thing. As far as appearance, professionalism and speaking Obama blew the old fart away.

It bugs the hell out of me that McCain would not look him in the eye, not even during the handshakes. And it sounded like Gramps was talking down and being condescending.

Biden on CNN afterwards. Viewers then emailing asking CNN where Palin was. With one of the guys saying "dont hold your breath" about her coming on.

And on NBC, I just read, that Palin declined to go on the network to offer her thoughts.

ATV

I thought Obama did fine but I was hoping for better. He has it in him. I also think he'll attack more during the next debates.

McCain did better than I expected. This might be because I've gotten used to Bush representing the Repubelicans. McCain is old and crotchety but he's not a complete dumbass.

Having said this, with Obama having an average night and McCain at his best, all the post-polls indicate sizeable gains for Obama among independents, sorry I meant "mavericks". The key is (and this was why I've always thought Obama would win) that Obama is extremely smart, and smooooth. This is why he's our next President. IMO, this race is pretty much over.

I'm looking forward to the VP debate on Thursday. By the way, I though Palin was a beauty queen in Alaska, not South Carolina?...

That was on this board around a year ago, and you posting it and trying to connect it to Palin shows what a biased Obama Knobslobber you are. Ridiculous. There is no middle ground with the far loony left, and most would vote for Obama no matter what he says or does.

They are nothing but sheeple with tunnel vision, and the resident taterskin fan is the perfect example.

I don't know if Obama crediting McCain for being right hurts him as much as you folks think.  Maybe it does.  But I don't recall Obama saying "John is right about that," and feeling like Obama was being weak, or disingenuous.  It seemed to me that each time Obama gave McCain a stroke, it was deserved because McCain was actually right on those points.  Maybe it is a sign of weakness to acknowledge that your opponent has some good ideas or plans, but that wasn't the feeling I got from it.

I am of course a liberal book reading son of a bitch, though, so nuance and complexity don't scare me off.  It doesn't worry me that McCain could be right about something, or that Obama could recognize it.

The other Presidential debates will be very similar to this one.  No big fireworks, no big bump for anyone.

On a different tip, I felt encouraged overall by the debate.  I would never vote for McCain (Palin truly sealed that deal), but at least it's clear that the next president will be better than the current one.  That is of course, unless President McCain suffers an aneuryism and we get President Palin, in which case Bush will be unburdened of Worst President Ever honors much faster than I thought it would take.

She is awful awful awful.

I worry about the VP debate for this reason:  everyone thought it would be a bloodbath when the villiage idiot faced Gore, and then Kerry.  And in truth, Bush was awful in those performances.  But it only served to make people like him more, to sympathize with him.  Millions of genuinely stupid people felt bad for the guy, empathized with his ineptitude and vapidity.  The same may well occur with Palin, no matter how softly Biden fargs her.  In fact, her selection by McCain may have understood that she'll be massacred by her own utter, undeniable weakness, but that the spectacle will rally people in her support.  I don't really think McCain's campaign is smart enough to forsee that, particularly since they themselves hardly knew who the farg the was when he announced her, but now that they've got a retard VP nominee, I'm sure they'll play for that angle.  It's almost all they've got, beyond her MILFish looks.

Anytime you get your opponent to agree with you it gives the perception you're winning. Once or twice is fine and forgettable, eight times is absurd. McCain slightly distorted a lot of truths which kept Obama on the defensive. When you're constantly defending yourself it gives the perception you're losing.

I think we're way passed that angle, millions of people have seen her interview with Couric and are just looking for the smallest blunder on her part to rip her apart. While Bush is an idiot he at least had a little knowledge in all areas and was a decent enough bullshteinter to talk his way through it. She's neither got the knowledge or bullshtein angle not to mention she's going into this looking like a clueless bimbo. I mean, can you just imagine her and Biden debating foreign policy? It's going to get ugly and fast.

ice grillin you

biden needs to lay off palin and let the women hang herself...he doesnt need to go for blood to stroke his own ego which is something he is very good at...biden loves himself some biden...but this time just sit back look presidential and let palin committ suicide

Exactly.  If he gets overzealous, he will come across as a mean old man.

I hate to say it, but I have to agree with VIGY. The reaction to the attacks by either candidate were universally negative, as were the reactions to the condescension by McCain.  In general, reactions only went positive when candidates were talking about problems and solutions.

I hope the Obama campaign can take advantage of the goldmine of information those real-time reactions give.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

So, will Demon show up at WUSTL next week with a "Marry me, Sarah" sign?

Biden doesn't have to attack.  All he needs to do is go all Katie Couric on Palin, i.e. repeat questions to get her off her cue cards and into the abyss.  Did anyone else notice Palin kept staring at her lap for much of the Couric interview?  Maybe they should have put complete sentences instead of bullet points on that card.
