I thought it was more like he was ok with the Jets and Bucs but wanted more options also.  Who cares.

I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

ha---so basically the Gazette changed their stance in 12hrs and now says that Brett doesnt want to play for the Jets and now he might consider the 20 million. Sounds like a bunch of panicky bitches over in Wisconsin

"There isn't a perfect solution to this, but Mark Murphy is at least trying," Favre told ESPN's Ed Werder via text message on Thursday night. "We know what they want and where I stand. His solution, although awkward and unsettling for most, may be the best in the end."

Incredible that the Packers can give Brett Favre $20 million to sit at home, and this whole saga is convieniently overshadowing the real story of Packers camp... Ryan Grant's holdout.  Grant's agent called the Packers offer "insulting" where the SB was supposedly around $3.5 million.

Did they up it to 3.5? I thought I read it was 1.75...either way, pretty lowball. Especially, as you point out, they are willing to give Favre 20 mil to disappear.

And how bad does this make both parties look?

Brett looks like a ho for this whole stunt about wanting to play again only to be shut up by money. And the Pack for paying hush money.

This has gotten' stupid beyond belief. Even old Colts great Johhny Unitas and San Fran's Joe Montana finished their careers with different teams. Either of those two guys are much better qb's than Favre. In championship games, Unitas and Montana threw TD's while Favre throws INT's.  Vince Lombardi, the guy whose name is on that trophy and who is considered one of the greatest coaches ever when he was with the Packers finished his coaching career in Washington.

Give it the farg up and let the Man go play so he can get it out of his system and we can say good bye to Favre for good, finally.

QB Eagles

Reinstated. The Packers have 24 hours to cut him or add him to the 80-man active roster. Obviously they could trade him at any time.

MDS

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

QuotePACKERS HIRE ARI FLEISCHER
Posted by Mike Florio on August 3, 2008, 6:33 p.m.

As the most bizarre story we've ever seen continues to get more and more bizarre, now comes word that the Packers have hired former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer as a consultant, according to Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com.

Fleischer has been hired for a month.

He met with the team several days ago, in a session that was supposedly scheduled before the cheese hit the fan regarding the Favre situation.

The Packers would have been wise to hire Fleischer at least a month ago.  And unless he has access to a time machine, it's going to be very hard for him to undo the damage that the franchise has already done to its image and reputation with the bungling manner in which the present situation has been handled.

And here's the bottom line — if the Packers were serious about welcoming Brett Favre back and making him the starter, why would they need a former White House press secretary to do damage control?  Our guess is that this latest maneuver is proof positive the vodka-fueled chess match will continue, in the hopes of making the Packers look like the good guys and casting Favre as the villain.

Is he related to Dahmer?

I'm still getting over the Ari Fleisher thing.  How out of control is this mess?
