Cognitive dissonance?  Yes.

Irony?  No.

I thought Buy N Large was a stab at walmart.

You think they're too stupid to indict themselves, or their parents?

I see the possibility of nuance here..but farg what the hell, I haven't even seen the movie, I've just read every goddamn review of it.

I just watched about 75% of It's Alive (while flipping back and forth to The Usual Suspects). Holy crap it was awesome. I mean, talk about the worst acting, special effects and story ever. It was the perfect 'so bad it's amazing' movie. Ridiculous.

An oldie but a goodie!

Oh, and I just rented "Grace is Gone"  this week.  Really well done movie about grief, after a guy's wife gets killed in Iraq.  Did an excellent job of being completely apolitical, really just about the dad (John Cusack, looking very much unlike John Cusack) coming to terms with the loss of his wife and how to tell his two young daughters.  Highly recommend.

I just watched The Simpsons Movie.  Really started slow, if this had come out 10 years ago i would have given it a 4/5 but i'm more in line with 2.5/5.  The best part was the dog at the end.

"Be Kind Rewind"

I hope you can find something better to do with your time.

1.5/5.

I thought the Godfather II comparison was more about a sequel equaling/exceeding the first film.

And I'm 37.  I'm not old.

How was it before dirt was invented?

(And, for the record, I'm 37, too...)

Ya know, after all the cliche/Monty Python bitching the last day in this thread, no one catches the Holy Grail reference?  Jeez.

DVR'd Boys And Girls Guide To Getting Down which was on TMC lastnight. Watched most of it in between the Phils game. It's a real life guide to sex and drugs. Also shows proper etiquette for both. It's also hilarious.

Watched The Serpent and the Rainbow and Apocalypto yesterday. The Serpent and the Rainbow was pretty good but Bill Pullman was really bad. And there were a couple of Beetlejuice-like special effect scenes towards the end that made the climax almost unwatchably silly. Still, it was spooky and enjoyable. Tetrodotoxin on that ass.

Apocalypto was a really good action flick throughout that had a ridiculously corny last 2 minutes. Like seriously, the very end had me rolling my eyes and vomiting eye-rolling-smiley-faces. The first 2.5 hours though were historically inaccurate, action packed fun.

They Live: Fairly scathing anti-consumerism and anti-social-apathy themes packaged nicely within the talentless bowels of Rowdy Roddy Piper. George Romero would be proud. People trying to watch a well made, well acted movie would be appalled.

Rewatched 'Fire in the Sky' the movie about Travis Walton being abducted by aliens in the 70's. Poor acting but the movie is damn interesting if you're into that stuff.
