They Live: Fairly scathing anti-consumerism and anti-social-apathy themes packaged nicely within the talentless bowels of Rowdy Roddy Piper. George Romero would be proud. People trying to watch a well made, well acted movie would be appalled.

As far as movies that should be bad go, They Live was really good.

The fight in the alley over the sunglasses = The greatest scene in the history of cinema.

I watched The Happening today, overall not too bad.  Nothing special but it was entertaining.

No question. I certainly wasn't saying that it should have been anything other than what it was, I was just warning the grumpy jackasses who don't like so-bad-it's-good movies that they should skip this one.

Anybody here that hasn't seen They Live at least twice, let us know so we can stop talking to you about guy things.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Also, watched the original 3:10 to Yuma this weekend. It was really good. I'm not much of a western fan, but was surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

Microsoft and Netflix announced today you will be able to get movies right from netfix to your 360, at no additional cost.  Which would be amazing.  Not sure if HD stuff will be available, but it'll be interesting how it all shakes out

I am going to see WALL-E today, finally.  Yay!

from the Netflix site
QuoteCan I instantly watch movies streamed from the Netflix website via my Xbox 360?
Watching instantly on your TV via your Xbox 360 will be available to Netflix members in the late fall of 2008. Watching movies & TV episodes instantly on your TV from Netflix via your Xbox 360 will be included with most plans. You'll choose from a separate, smaller library of over 10,000 movies & TV episodes. With most membership plans, you can watch as many movies from this library as you want - anytime you want - instantly on your PC or via a Netflix ready device on your TV. This will be a bonus to the DVDs you get by mail and will be included with your membership at no additional fee. To watch instantly on your Xbox 360 you will need an Xbox LIVE Gold membership.

Basically, those will be the same movies they have available now online at the same quality.  It's not a comprehensive selection, but it's still pretty cool.  It's not HD quality, but it's not really bad either.  We hooked up the laptop to our 52" TV and it looked fine.

They only have one company selling the standalone players right now for $99.  I wouldn't buy an XBox just for this purpose, but if you have one, it would be a no-brainer to use Netflix over BB.

Wall-E was very good.  I really enjoyed how they communicated so much with very little language.  Even after the humans enter the story, there isn't a lot of dialogue.   The characters converse as it were in body language and inflection of beeps and tones and the like.  It was a sweet movie.

Agreed. I liked that about the movie too. Pixar is amazing, they churn out enjoyable movie one after the other.

I mentioned it in my post about the movie, but I liked how they threw in there the whole lazy and destroying the world message too.
