Maybe they should consider a bake sale?

Ha, did you get that MoveOn email today?

Wingspan

Nope. But see...bake sales work.

thats horrible....the problem is there are to many people like FF that dont care about things like this unless their wife gets layed off...or he doesnt doesnt get a pay raise...or his childs school cant afford supplies or programs...until it directly effects them the $100 in their pocket is much more important

I voted for a Democratic governor in 2004 (and likely will again in 2008) because of the education issues in North Carolina.  I have a kid that is not yet school age, but I see the writing on the wall.

Again, if Barack Obama actually was proposing anything that could even have a trickle effect on helping me or bettering the country for my children, I would consider voting for him.   But the very core of his health care proposal would put my wife out of a job and reduce the quality of my family's care.  That's beyond just paying a few extra dollars in taxes.

QuoteDear MoveOn member,

Winning the White House is going to take a lot of dough. So on Saturday, June 21st and Sunday, June 22nd, we're organizing "Hungry for Change"—the largest bake sale in history—to fund a massive campaign to send Barack Obama to the Oval Office. Every extra cookie and brownie we sell means more organizers on the ground, more creative ads, and more Obama voters at the polls on Election Day. Can you help?

Back in 2004, we held a nationwide bake sale to defeat Bush, and folks are still talking about how fun it was! We also know from '04 that lots of people in Arlington will be eager to help out by making treats ("Yes We Candy", anyone?) and staffing the table. They just need somebody to get things started. Can you sign up to be a host?

Ok, well...maybe the bake sale won't work.

How about selling magazine subscriptions and peanut brittle?

The difference between Warren Buffet and FF -

One of them is extremely intelligent and the other thinks he's actually rich.

The ladyfriend could certianly be impacted by universal healthcare, but here's the thing, private medical practices will never go away even with the advent of unversal health care. Hospitals will be stop being run like Fortune 500 businesses but private services will never go away and her education was focussed on versatility so I'm unconcerned.

ice grillin you

buffett knows whats up

with the incredible debt that W has racked up we have no choice but to raise taxes because cutting spending will not be enough...especially with the yearly mandated spending increases

obamas capital gains tax increase is a good start....especially if it is scaled like the income tax....this way the average middle american can still have their 401ks and iras and not get rocked in taxes....plus the government can get some extra cash from the ultra successful investors....the only people seriously impacted by this move are the upper middle class people that fall just short of being true upper class
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

I advocate total, immediate withdrawal from Iraq.  It will go to hell, of course, but oh well.  The blood is already on our hands; in for a penny in for a pound.

Admit openly to the world that the U.S. never should have done it, relinquish all decision making to the U.N., pledge about a trillion dollars to them to use as they see fit in trying to help Iraq recover, and move on with taking care of our own goddamn problems for a change.

Nothing about that plan makes any sense or would ever happen.

It makes perfect sense, and it will happen if you elect me President.

I fully agree with this.  The U.S. army is not designed to be in the business of nationbuilding.  At this point, a multi-national effort is needed to stabalize Iraq and get it on a footing to regain control of its own territory.  That said, I'm not sure if Iraq will ever again be ready to do that as one nation.

A multi-national effort would have a better chance of success than the U.S. going alone.  Perhaps the UN will be ready to work with the next President more than they currently are with Bush.
