holy crap what a horrible post

i am "rich" and would be happy to pay more taxes...as mentioned by rjs tax distribution is the problem not tax revenue....not enough of the collected money makes it to the right peoples places or things

one example...id gladly take a tax hit if it meant the country getting out of this housing crisis...in the big picture its about my pesonal beliefs number one of which is that i believe in helping those less fortunate than me...small picture is my house is currently on the market and i cant sell it because theres three foreclosures on my street that are destroying my houses value

also right now raising taxes strictly for the purpose of paying down the national debt would be a great idea...of course spending needs to be slashed as well but to say raising taxes never helps the economy is retarded...it might not always help YOU but it can and has helped the economy in a larger sense
[/quote]

Why was that such a horrible post. People do hate the rich.

You may be the first person I've ever heard that "doesn't mind" more taxes. First of all i think you're lying. The problem is the government is so huge that it takes too much money to fund it. America was never set up to run under the idea of huge government.

And about the housing market. I agree that something should be done but it makes me mad that we're in a lot of this shtein because people tried to live beyond their means. Interest only home loans.. You've gotta be kidding me. Who falls for that? I just dont think the govt should have to come in and bail out everyone who did

ThirdStreetMafia

so yes, i am an idiot because i cant seem to use the quote function.

"F the taxes! Everyone for themselves!"

That's anarchy, not democracy.

QuoteThe problem is the government is so huge that it takes too much money to fund it. America was never set up to run under the idea of huge government.

Relatively speaking our government is much smaller than most other first world nations. Though we we do pay WAY too much for "defense".

This country is headed for a real shteinstorm. We haven't been putting our resources where they've been needed. Nearly everything is dependent upon cheap gas. You have to drive everywhere for everything. What a waste.

RJS:  It's simple, really.

To McCain, you're poor.  He wants tax breaks for the "rich," and you don' qualify.  He thinks it will "trickle down" to you.

To Obama, you're rich.  He wants to help the needy, and since you can afford food, clothing and shelter, you don't qualify.  You've had too much of a "free ride" under Bush anyway.

By and large in Modern America, "middle class" = screwed.

ice grillin you

debates pretty much become null and void when your argument is that the other person is lying

not that i really wanna speak to someone who has literally never met a human being that didnt mind paying more taxes...do you belong to a militia?

the fact that the notion of me being willing to pay more in taxes to help the country is so unbeliveable to you that i have to be lying is scary

actually one of the most beneficial tax hikes of recent times was by a republican...ghb's tax hikes helped greatly in setting up the economic boom that happened during the clinton era
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

ThirdStreetMafia

IGY, Your knowledge on the subject seems to be much deeper than mine... i can admit that
And you're right about the lying thing. That was shtein and i shouldnt have posted it

But while we're "debating"...

Something else that really makes me angry is the wellfare system in this country. There are way too many people on it and they become no more than a drain on the nation. What do they do to add to society. I'm talking about people who really could work, but don't. There are obviously people who need welfare. I'm 100% for them being supported. But I think something really needs to be done with that.

I lived in NZ for awhile and down there, anyone could go on the welfare system. If you were deemed able to work, you had 6 months to find a job. Otherwise, you had to work in a job they provided for you or the welfare stopped. I thought it was a pretty good idea

PoopyfaceMcGee

Why don't those of you who want to pay more taxes just voluntarily do it?

ThirdStreetMafia

Geo: I suspected that I was in the 'screwed' group. Just needed some confirmation. Thanks.

TSM: The welfare system, like the tax code, needs to be fixed. On the surface, the NZ plan that you just mentioned sounds like a good one, but obviously there is almost no information to go on. What I find funny is your tone. The welfare system makes you angry? Maybe you spend too much time thinking about it.

PRETTY SURE no said they wanted to pay more taxes. Only that we would, and happily, if we thought it was benefitting the country.

which is why i said the whole lying thing in the first place... no one "wants" to

and maybe you're right about thinking to much, but your the last person who should say that. You're always pissed at evertyhing arent you?

rjs246

No, my miserable attitude is just a hoax. Like the holocaust.
